Somesh – Thanks for your contribution! We look forward to hearing more from you.

self assessment A little boy went to a telephone booth which was at the cash counter of a  store and dialed a number.
The store-owner observed and listened to the  conversation:
Boy                 : Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?
Woman          : (at the other end of the phone line) I  already have someone to cut my lawn.
Boy                 : Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price  than the person who cuts your lawn now.
Woman          : I’m very satisfied with the person who is  presently cutting my lawn.
Boy                 : (with more perseverance) Lady, I’ll even sweep the floor  and the stairs of your house for free.
Woman          : No, thank you.

With a smile on his face, the little  boy replaced the receiver. The store-owner, who was listening to all this,  walked over to the boy.

Store Owner  : Son… I like  your attitude; I like that positive spirit and would like to offer you a  job.
Boy                 :  No thanks,
Store Owner  :  But you were really pleading for one.
Boy                 :  No Sir, I was just  checking my performance at the job I already have. I am the one who is  working for that lady I was talking to! This is called -  "Self  Appraisal "

We humans are often recognized by our attitudes. What we say, feel or behave, leaves a very deep impact on our life’s. All our successes and failures are due to our own attitudes. The results that we get or thinkpositivethe way we land in different circumstances, our attitude is 99.99% responsible. We often blame either others or our circumstances which is just wrong. Others have nothing to do with anything. Circumstances is nothing but our own way of seeing and facing things. They say when we are positive, the entire outlook changes to the better. Its all in being positive. The few sayings that goes “Work like you don’t need the money” or “Love like it’s never going to hurt” or more apt saying for this blog and that is “Dance like nobody’s watching” all revolve around one major aspect and that is in “being positive”. On this note, I would like to share a small short story with you with the hope that your day gets to see all the positive rays as much as possible!

Jeff was the kind of guy you love to hate. He was always in a good mood and always had something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!" He was a ThinkPositive1unique manager because he had several waiters who had followed him around from restaurant to restaurant. The reason the waiters followed Jeff was because of his attitude. He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Jeff was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation. Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jeff and asked him, "I don’t get it! You can’t be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?" Jeff replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, Jeff, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.’ I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life." "Yeah, right, it’s not that easy," I protested.
thinkpositive2 "Yes, it is," Jeff, said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It’s your choice how you live life." I reflected on what Jeff said.
Soon thereafter, I left the restaurant industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.
Several years later, I heard that Jeff did something you are never supposed to do in a restaurant business: he left the back
bangdoor open one morning and was held up at gunpoint by three armed robbers. While trying to open the safe, his hand, shaking from nervousness, slipped off the combination. The robbers panicked and shot him. Luckily, Jeff was found relatively quickly and rushed to the local trauma center. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jeff was released from the hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his body.
I saw Jeff about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he said, "If I were any better, I’d be twins. Want to see my scars?"
I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place. "The first thing that went through my mind was that I should have locked the back door," Jeff replied. "Then, as I lay on the floor, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live, or I could choose to die. I chose to live." "Weren’t you scared? Did
positive you lose consciousness?" I asked. Jeff continued, "The paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the emergency room and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read, ‘He’s a dead man.’ I knew I needed to take action." "What did you do?" I asked. "Well, there was a big, burly nurse shouting questions at me," said
Jeff. "She asked if I was allergic to anything. ‘Yes,’ I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, ‘Bullets!’ Over their laughter, I told them, ‘I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead.’"
Jeff lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is everything.

Have a Blessed Day my Friends!!

Eid al-Adha is an celebration in commemoration of the command give by Allah to Prophet Abraham (may Allah be pleased with him) to sacrifice his first born son Ishmael to Him. The fulfilment [sic] of this noble command of Allah by Abraham signifies his faith. It is an occasion to reaffirm our sacrifice, trust and devotion to Allah and to express gratitude for His countless blessings and grace. It is a sincere thanks that means to acknowledge the true story of any event, and to repair any harm so that the walls built with anger and resentment brewing from within are removed from each others’ hearts — leaving the door open for God to heal the wounds and bond us together as a human family. The sacrificed animal (goat) is then shared in four equal parts between the poor, the needy, relatives and friends.

This day also coincides with Thanksgiving Day that is celebrated in United States of America and Canada and couple of European countries. Thanksgiving symbolizes the joy of loving, caring, sharing. It is all about togetherness and merry making. The festival stands for the ‘Oneness’ of people. It epitomizes peace, harmony and union. People world over thank the Lord almighty for all the blessings and material possessions bestowed on them.

meditate Everyone needs a break from the usual. When life tends to get monotonous, it is better to take a break, relax and get back in full swing. As they say, a refreshed mind brews 100 percent better ideas then a tired mind. A tired mind hardly functions 5 % of the time and rest of time it is only searching for excuses. Such a time is the right time to call it a break and relax and relaxation gets better with meditation. How to meditate ?? Please read below!

All you need to start meditating are:

  1. A quiet environment. Choose a secluded place in your home, office, garden, place of worship, or in the great outdoors where you can relax without distractions or interruptions.
  2. A comfortable position. Get comfortable, but avoid lying down as this may lead to you falling asleep. Sit up with your spine straight, either in a chair or on the floor. You can also try a cross-legged or lotus position.
  3. A point of focus. Pick a meaningful word or phrase and repeat it throughout your session. You may also choose to focus on an object in your surroundings to enhance your concentration, or alternately, you can close your eyes.
  4. An observant, non critical attitude. Don’t worry about distracting thoughts that go through your mind or about how well you’re doing. If thoughts intrude during your relaxation session, don’t fight them. Instead, gently turn your attention back to your point of focus.

Being Innovative bring high and satisfactory results. Boogie Woogie is a reality shows and reality shows do 111well when they bring innovative ideas week after week as they supply the required spice to its audience. And so with the same concept on mind, we bring you an article on how to be innovative. The seven great habits that we bring you today with due courtesy is the result of www.thinksimplenow.com. We hope you too will find it useful and will adopt these habits for your own life.

Have you ever looked at super creative or innovative people, and felt they are special beings blessed with gifts? Have you felt that you are not as fortunate? I used to feel this way. I have since learned that creativity is more about psychology than intellect, and there are no secrets to being creative. Actually, there is no such thing as “being more creative”, you are already a creative being.

I’m sure we can all relate to moments when we felt stuck trying to tap into our own creativity. Did you know that this block is merely your mind at work? Your mind is creating all sorts of assumptions, self-imposed constraints and self-limiting inhibitions. I have found that we can remove these assumptions just by being in the moment; start doing, and stop thinking.

Here are seven habits found in highly innovative and creative people that I’ve organized and summarized from Scott Berkun’s “the myths of innovation“.

1. Persistence - Innovation involves more than just great ideas. We need faith, hard work and a laser sharp focus for the end result to keep persisting for our vision in the face of roadblocks. We tend to see the end result of a creative idea in awe, but what we don’t see are the actions, hard work and persistence behind the scene to make the vision a reality.

“Invention is 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration“ - Thomas A. Edison

2. Remove Self-Limiting Inhibitions - Under the spell of inhibition, we feel limited and stuck. We need to free ourselves from these mind-created constraints by removing assumptions and restrictions. This is what we refer to when we say “think outside the box”. Encourage ourselves to be open to new ideas and solutions without setting limiting beliefs. Remember, innovation is more about psychology than intellect.

3. Take Risks, Make Mistakes - I believe that part of the reason why we create self-imposed inhibition is due to our fear of failure. Expect that some ideas will fail in the process of learning. Build prototypes often, test them out on people, gather feedback, and make incremental changes. Rather than treating the mistakes as failures, think of them as experiments. “Experiment is the expected failure to deliberately learn something.” (Scott Berkun). Instead of punishing yourself for the failures, accept them, then take your newfound knowledge and put it towards finding the best solution. Live up to your goal of producing the best result, but understand you might hit roadblocks along the way.

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.“ –Thomas A. Edison

4. Escape - Our environment can and does effect how we feel. The more relaxed and calm we are internally, the more receptive we are to tap into our flowing creativity. This is why ideas sometimes come to us in the shower or while we’re alone. Each of us have different triggers to access our creative energy. I get into the ‘creative zone’ from sitting at my dining table, with a warm cup of chai, and my noise-canceling headphones. Many great thinkers go on long walks to help them solve problems. Experiment and find what works for you.

5. Writing Things Down - Many innovators and creative people keep a journal to jot down ideas and thoughts. Some keep a sketch book, scrap book, post-it notes, loose paper. They all have a method to capture their thoughts, to think on paper, to drop their inhibitions and start the creative process. Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous notebook was purchased by Bill Gates for $30.8 Million dollars.

6. Find Patterns & Create Combinations - Ideas come from other ideas. Did you know that Edison wasn’t the first one who came up with the invention of the light bulb? He was the first to build a workable carbon filament inside a glass bulb, that made light bulbs last longer. You can increase your exposure to new ideas, look for patterns and see how you can combine ideas to improve upon existing solutions.

7. Curiosity - Many innovators are just curious people who are inquisitive, and like to solve problems. Practice seeing things differently. For example, When seeing the solution to a problem, ask yourself, “What are some alternative ways to doing this?”. Ask a lot of questions and challenge the norms or existing methods.

Have a great day folks!!

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. friendsOne day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.
Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment. When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.
Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,
"Richness, can you take me with you?" Richness answered, "No, I can’t. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."
Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!""I can’t help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered.
Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you."
"Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"
Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.
Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder,
Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who Helped me?"
"It was Time," Knowledge answered.
"Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"
Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."

And with this story we present our Song of the Weekend for you – Humse Tum Dosti Karlo! We sincerely hope your love doesn’t have to wait too long for its time to come. Have a wonderful fun filled weekend. Enjoy!

dance Whether you are ready to give auditions or are all set to perform on the stage for the first time or innumerate time, it is must that you enjoy what you do. Many times people do for the sake of something else like for instance popularity or money. To appear on national Television is a dream for many not for anything else but to gain instant popularity and even with a hope to make big to earn big bucks. There is nothing wrong in either of the concepts provided you do it the right way. It is a proven fact that when you perform and have enjoyed performing what you did, the result works out that people too have enjoyed what they saw. But a lot of times people get monotonous and just do things half heartedly and that is where they step towards failure.

People working for biggest companies or earning millions are not the happiest always. Someone working for a local company with much lesser salary can be happier. The excitement of going to work could be seen bubbling out initially but as the time passes, things change. The same that we did excitedly in beginning becomes an obligation.

But here are some tips that will help us in big way in not becoming monotonous but creating a career graph that only sees an upward direction:

be realistic Be Realistic:  We often have a habit of setting unrealistic goals for ourselves. We expect more than what we are capable of and when we are not able to meet our goals, depression seeps in and the work becomes a source of unhappiness rather than joy.
See, if you also aimed to touch skies overnight. If yes, set S.M.A.R.T goals for yourself. SMART here means: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely.

right mindset Turn to work with the right mindset: When you appear in reality shows, you have to work to show case your talent differently each time you appear. The studio that you go for shoot is your work. Enter your work with a positive mindset and have the same for your co participants, your employer, recruiter, judges. Bearing negative thoughts about your workplace will not only hamper your performance but will not let you like do well.

good rapport Maintain a good rapport with everyone: This is something said ad-nauseam times but not practiced very often. The best way to do is to maintain an open communication with people you are surrounded with. Practice small things like helping people wherever you can, pass a gentle smile and you will see that you will always have someone to help or advice you when need.

fix problems Try to fix problems rather then complaining: When there are more then one mind, there is bound to be difference of opinion and difference of opinion leads to problems. Most of us have a habit of sitting and criticizing things. Rather then just discussing the problems around it will be a better idea to find a solution to them. This will not only create a healthy atmosphere but also give us a sense of achievement.

KPAs Focus on your KPAs: Many of us feel that we are working hard but it is not being recognized. This leads to depression and also miscommunication. The best way to handle such a situation is to focus on our Key Performance Areas. If we do everything but our actual job that we came for, our performance will never be appreciated. We must see that we are doing the things the right way.

transparency Maintain Transparency: One time win is not an end. With Boogie Woogie, if you are good then you will get many opportunities to perform. Keeping your communication clear and well informed makes the work easier and will reduce any worries if they are any. Moreover, it will also prove to bring people who will stand by you in your hour of need.

celebrate Celebrate success with everyone: Keep patting for the next batting. Celebrating with everyone is a great idea. If people are happy they will be motivated and if they are motivated then half of your worries evaporate themselves. Also such gatherings bring people closer and also increase the compatibility quotient.

new challenge Accept new challenges and risks: A common feature of most of the happy professionals around! Accepting new challenges and risks not only give us the joy of recognition but also a feeling of satisfaction. Identify new challenges and volunteer to handle them.

Have a wonderful day till next time!!

i miss you Boogie Woogie Fans are use to seeing quality dances, quality judgment and quality choreographers. After all 13 years plus is not a joke! Since the time Boogie Woogie got replaced with another dance show that is not even worth mentioning, weekends just turned out to be plain boring for us fans!

Boogie Woogie is a show that never demarcated India between its regions for its TRP sake nor the judges choose their own regional dancers as final winners putting the other regions down . As far as any Boogie Woogie fan remembers, they have always been fair in their judgment irrespective of missing you any region, caste, creed or language. The most amazing thing that India witnessed in its history was participants coming from its remote villages to show case their talent and they were not only judged with the same equal eye as rest of the participants that came from major metropolitan cities but were appreciated as well for the talent that they possessed. Boogie Woogie always saw something good in all its participants and made sure to shine that aspect in front of the world giving them maximum limelight. No one tried to cut the throat of one another to jump the ladder of success and hence the result is such that we see Boogie Woogie dancers in other channel dance shows making it a bumper hit.

But unfortunately if one switches on to Sony during same Boogie Woogie slot, what they see is, “good for nothing” biased choreographers playing the dirty survival game by cutting each others throat and praising their missing you1 own stupid judgment. If these are the present breed of choreographers then I really wish they had stayed behind the camera and never brought their ugly themselves in front of the world! The things that were respected on Boogie Woogie show have all been replaced by things that cannot be viewed by family audience . This reminds me of an old quote: “you scream and tell I am good, and it sounds I am good to others even when its the worse - the only thing is that the people who heard such words were deaf”. I really don’t have to expand this quote any further as its self explanatory.

miss When Boogie Woogie took its break, I really was expecting a show to stand at par with Boogie Woogie standards in terms of quality talent and judgment but it is a shame to see a show that is nothing of that sort but a big FLOP! It is one ill composed and mentally ill show that does more harm in growth of the nation then any good.

As far as Boogie Woogie fans are concerned, we are eagerly waiting for Boogie Woogie to come back. And I hope it happens real soon!! We miss you Boogie Woogie!!

jajantaram mamantaram Anytime I came across the word “group dance”, I mostly use to dig out for foreign videos because I felt they stand a class apart in their coordination and in their look and feel but the same thinking was changed once I saw the movie Jajantaram Mamantaram especially one song that I loved it instantly – the song is called “Rambam Rambabam”. The video is so colorful with soft feel and plus the group has danced very gracefully. It is superbly coordinated as well. I choose the same song as the “Song of the Weekend” and hope you all enjoy watching this beautiful piece. Have a great weekend folks!!
