This week it was Disco special called “Disco Mamma”. Before the show could start there was a clipping shown where there was a heated argument between mummy’s especially between Ripanpreet and Ritu Gupta. This clipping disclosed more information of what was going on between the mummy’s which Boogie Woogie has handled it fabulously. I am really glad they showed the clipping of not so pleasant moments between the mothers which were handled well and respectfully by Boogie Woogie keeping the show’s dignity intact.
The first mother to dance on Friday night was Saili Desai who made a grand entry on the stage with the lights on her costume. She danced on medley starting with “Saara zamana” to “koi kahe kahta rahe”. The effect with the tube light dancing was awesome. Saili performed a very energetic dance and showed her capabilities in adapting outside her comfort area. It was one excellent performance and I loved watching it. The after performance talk was hilarious when she said she narrates rotten poems when she wants to trouble someone and then there was a flood of rotten shers both from the judges as well as from Saili. She received good compliments from the judges on her performance.
The next mother to perform was Deepa Singh who came in wearing a hot pink costume and gave a superb performance on Usha Uthup’s number “Raat mein joh nasha hai”. Her steps were too cute and the beats and remixing of the music was superbly done. Boo dancers added extra charm to the performance. I loved the way they mixed the R D Burman track in between and also the lighting arrangement. Everything was 10 on 10. The after performance talk brought compliments for Deepa especially from Ravi when he said she looked like a 12 year old kid. Deepa also talked about how wearing a jeans can change the attitude in a person and how it helped her in performing her piece. She aspired to take the costume home with her to which judges were pretty generous and said its a gift for her. She also performed a ramp walk in style on Boogie Woogie stage displaying her confidence and personal growth. It is so amazing to see the change in mummys from day one to this episode. The funny part was when she requested judges not to ask her any question that can put her in trouble. She showed couple of steps of Mithun Chakraborthy and said he is her favorite disco dancer. Jaaved Jaaffery gave good compliments to her saying she absorbed herself well in her performance and and her expressions were good.
The third mother that performed was Darshana Kohli who made a grand entry as well beating the drums on a moving stage. Her entry was unique and picks your interest instantly. She danced on song “Pyar karne waale” from movie Shaan. Darshana wore an attractive costume in red, pink and blue color. The florescent effects that were used were great. Her closure was cool. Jaaved felt that she was dancing in tension and asked her why was she in tension. Darshana informed that she was little nervous as she was dancing outside her comfort area and wasn’t too sure if she could carry it out well. Watch Jaaved sing the “Mumbhai” song at this point and Ravi and Naved narrated couple of shers.
The next mother to perform was Ripanpreet Sidhu who wore a black and red color outfit. She looked like a million bucks – very attractive! Ripan danced on song “Super dancers aye hain”. Ripanpreet is pretty comfortable in modern dances and so she gave a good performance showing her comfort level. Her expressions were great. The disco lights that were used added charm to her performance. The after performance talk was funny. Judges asked her a question if she would like to stay with her husband for all seven janams to which she replied, she feels like staying with her husband for all janams only when he is good to her and when he gets angry on her, she feels just one life with him is more then enough. Ripan also talked about her being upset for couple of days but said she is very happy now and is giving her all to her performance. I really would like to talk about her and the rift that has happened on Boogie Woogie stage, lets discuss it tomorrow!
The last mother to dance was Ritu Gupta who wore a black outfit and made a beautiful entry on the stage. Her makeover was just fabulous and must applaud Boogie Woogie team for doing such wonderful job on these mothers. Boo dancers – FABULOUS!!! Ritu was very stylish and confident and came in with the right attitude that is needed for her performance. She danced on song “mere dil gaye ja zubi zubi zubi”. I absolutely loved the way they mixed “Brown girl in the ring” song in her performance. This song is one of my favorite song too and takes me to my school age when my singing teacher use to make my class sing almost everyday the same song and so Ritu’s performance brought many nostalgic feelings. Another observation that is must is the way when music changes to faster track - watch the coordination and dancing steps – they were beautiful. The after performance talk was mainly about the rift that occurred between Ritu and Ripan. Ritu did speak her mind saying she is not a show off neither wants to pretend falsely on stage that everything is good between her and Ripan. If she doesnt have good feeling towards her she really doesn’t have to act goody goody with her. Judges tried to sort the fight and some of the comments from judges were: Ravi “Boogie Woogie mein dosti panapti hai”, Javed: “Yeh Boogie Woogie hai yaha par pyar badta hai”, Naved: “Acha hamesha jodta hai bura thodta hai”. Well said judges!! Coming back to Ritu’s performance, Jaaved gaved good compliments saying she maintained the tempo and looked comfortable.
With this judges sang the song “Disco 82” and winded the Friday nights episode on a good note.
