Boogie Woogie India

Saturday night rubbed the reality show “mujhe iss jungle se bachao” on Boogie Woogie and so the pre performance was started in similar fashion. After a lukewarm Friday, honestly I was waiting for some magic for Saturday night and was hoping that it does not turn as bad as Friday. Though it wasn’t as bad as Friday but it still comes under the mediocre attempt by mummy’s in the challenge set by judges. So is marriage to be blamed? Does being a mother, one can only be an average performer in challenges or were the mummy’s served the wrong food that they couldn’t be their best? Well, I personally feel the awesome performances by the kids prior to mummy’s set our expectations so high that “we” the audiences want to see only the same standard and anything less makes us upset.

But coming back to the Saturday night, the first mother who makes an bold entry to perform in the challenge round was Sonia Dias and she was given semi classical dance as her theme. Now we were so used to seeing Sonia do hip hop or some western that it was almost impossible to imagine in classical attire performing some Indian steps. But Sonia surprises us all by dancing on song “chupke se”. She wore a blue top with white lehanga. Sonia’s performance to the audience should look graceful and soothing. The hip hop dancer did a very good attempt by dancing fabulously and I loved all her steps, expressions and smile during her performance. Must watch! Sonia got great comments from Ravi and she also desired to perform on an item number in her future rounds. The after performance talk brought some touchy and memorable moments between Sonia and her daughter when she had a day out with her.

The second mother to perform was Saili Desai who got Salsa as her theme. Now with Saili, it was opposite to what it was with Sonia. She all the time danced Indian and one never saw her shake on a western number. This was the first time Saili performs a Salsa and I must say it was a good attempt. She wore a pink color costume and danced on song “kuch khaas hai”. Some of the steps that were worth mentioning were Boo dancers lifting Saili, that came out good especially the positioning of her legs and hands. Saili dancing around the chair and the steps that she took along with Boo dancers with the faster music were all good attempt. Saili carried herself very well and her smile and expressions were great. Though I felt there was a lot of walking in her dance but giving the benefit of doubt that she was performing for the first time, it will be called a great attempt. Saili got good compliments from the judges especially from Naved when he said that Saili turned out to be a chupi rustum and shouldn’t be under estimated.

The next mother to dance was Geeta Soni who got Rock n Roll as her dancing theme. Geeta the pretty mother danced on song “tumse mili nazar”. She wore a pretty pink color frock with silver tights and as usual she looked amazingly beautiful. Geeta’s steps were faster and it was a very good rock n roll attempt. Boo dancers added their own charm to the performance but Geeta was her best in her challenge. They also used props in her performance and it came out very well. I don’t know the technicalities and lets just leave that to the judges but from audience point of view, one must enjoy this performance as it came out as a good entertaining number. Well done Geeta!! The only problem that I found in Geeta is that she was never a good speaker. Like some of the mothers who speak non stop in their after performance talk and sometimes unnecessarily, Geeta when she needs to speak, she likes to pass the opportunity and move from the stage like instance when the judges asked her to say a joke, she asked them if she can go. I think Geeta must polish her people’s skills and once she does that, there shouldn’t be any stopping for her. I personally loved her performance and salute this mother who got a 16 year old daughter for her skills and also for her flexibility. Salute to her determination to do something for herself apart from being a mother! Awesome job Geeta!!

After Geeta’s performance, judges – Ravi, Javed and Naved celebrated Michael Jackson’s birthday on Boogie Woogie stage. They cut a cake and also danced to the song “Thriller”. Some of the mummy’s that got a chance to dance with the judges were Sonia and Ritu with Jaaved Jaafferi, Ravi danced with Ritu Gupta and one could also see Sumit and Vinod dance to celebrate Michael Jackson’s birthday. Jaaved Jaafferi also announced that soon after the Mummy’s Championship they will be coming up with Michael Jackson special where they will pay a tribute to MJ and it will be a two week special. Can’t wait!!

The last mother to perform was definitely not the least mother as she performed fabulously. Yes it was Ritu Gupta’s turn and she got Hip Hop as her theme. Ritu danced to the song “Masakali” remixed with “Gangster Blues”. She wore black top, white and black bottom with red color scarf along with a head band – a perfect hip hop attire. The best thing about Ritu’s dancing is anytime there are Boo dancers on the stage, it looks like they are there to support the participant but when Ritu dances with the boo dancers, it looks like she is part of the team and everyone together is performing. She plays a strong teammate giving her hundred percent to the performance and so this time too she succeeded not only with great matching steps but also great expressions and dancing movements and attitude. Her closure was fabulous too. Must Watch! Ritu also got great compliments from the judges especially from Ravi. Keep it up Ritu!

Unfortunately the one mummy to get eliminated this week was Geeta Soni. As we said, Geeta was a beautiful part of Mummy’s Championships and with her getting eliminated, we are going to miss her a lot. There surely is going to be a vacuum but we wish her the very best of best for all her future endeavors and we do hope to see her back on Boogie Woogie stage soon. Geeta, we are proud of you! Mothers like you always are very inspiring. We pray for the best for you and your family. God bless you!!

Friday night episode started with Ravi and Naved in the studio discussing with the Boo choreographers about the new challenge that they like to give to the mummy’s. Very soon mummy’s enters the studio and Ravi and Naved allotted challenges to the mummy’s and that was performing on their least comfort type of dance – something that they never did before or are not comfortable doing it.

I believe, a champion is one who can perform well on any given task and as they say the real performer shows his or her skills only during the challenges that are given to him or her but unfortunately we ended up with lukewarm episode on both Friday and Saturday night because of the mummy’s. Dancing outside ones comfort areas is not the first we had seen on Boogie Woogie and so we had expectations set that of previous performers such as in Kids Championships and also in Naache Taare Zameen Par. Now we also knew that mummy’s cannot be as flexible as the kids but we never thought they would only end up in bad attempt. Yes – the show by the mummy’s was just mediocre. Boo dancers added lot of strength to the episodes and Mummy’s must thank them for their contribution that made their performance look better.

The first mummy to perform was Saba Bari who got “Mujra” as her challenge and she danced on song “Nigahen milane ko jee chahta hai”. A beautiful song indeed and one of my favorite song. Saba was dressed up in a yellow color anarkali costume with some heavy jewelry. In pre performance talk, Boo choreographers told that they wanted to give this challenge to Saba to make her work on her expressions and so they came up with the Mujra theme. Though Saba was complimented by the judges for her expressions but looking at her expression and smile, it looked a little forced. I liked her expressions in her previous performances and this performance looked a little overworked and obvious. While Saba tried and succeeded in impressing the judges with her performance, all I could think of was Swasti Nitya dancing on the same song, it was so fabulous to see the five year old dance but unfortunately Saba failed to put the same magic in her challenge!

The second mummy to perform was Neelu Rai who got “Marshal Arts” as her theme. I wasn’t aware that Marshal Arts was a dancing theme?? but giving Boogie Woogie benefit of doubt let’s thank them for this information?? Now coming to Neelu Rai, she was in green color chinese outfit and made a fabulous entry on the stage. The Boo dancers in black costumes added flavor to the performance and so did the Boo dancers wearing yellow outfits. Neelu’s performance was one of the few performances by mummy’s that makes the episode worth watching. A very good attempt and her hard work was showing in her performance. Some of the steps that deserve applauds are: one – Neelu climbing on Boo dancers thighs, two – dancing with the sword, and of course the fighting scene. Neelu’s performance was so good that it makes you feel like the performance was short. Neelu got good compliments from the judges especially from Jaaved.

The next mother was Ripanpreet and she got Props as her theme. She was suppose to dance with props and so my expectations were to see a performance full of props but what we saw was plain 10 seconds dancing with props. That’s all!! Ripan was dressed up in blue outfit. She had props tied to her in the beginning of the song. I wish, if she had danced on the entire song with props, it would have made a great impact but unfortunately she gave up on props and started dancing her usual after the first 10 seconds. In plain and simple language, it was DISAPPOINTING!

The last mother to perform on Friday night was Harpreet Kaur who got “Belly dancing” as her theme. Now this item you can call a good attempt and as well as entertaining. I loved the music that they used for Harpreets performance and the entry of Boo dancers in the beginning was cool. Harpreet was dressed up in golden color outfit and threw in an entertaining performance. Her moves were graceful and rhythmic. The one thing that was worth applaud was the move on the carpet, and Harpreets thoomkas and the lift in the end should not be missed. Harpreet looked very pretty just like million dollars! This simple and sweet speaking mother has been surprising week after week and this challenge round she sure shows her best. Must watch!

With judges informing that very soon there will be a PJ contest between Ravi, Naved versus three mummy’s – Harpreet, Sonia and Geeta, Friday night episode ended with the promise to bring four more mothers on Saturday night. It sure will be interesting to watch the PJ contest and I think Sonia will walk away with the challenge just like a little piece of cake with the icing Who wants to bet?

There were more then three performances that we loved watching past weekend and we place them as our Rising Stars of the Week. As we said before, the criteria of the Rising Stars is the best enjoyed performances plus the way they carried themselves in the given theme. This week we choose 4 mothers and they are:

The Hottest Mother of this Week we give it to a mother who shows a very strong personality and talent. Her thoomkas, jhatkas were fabulous in her dance. Her words are wide and clear as well as her thoughts and aspirations and her costume, makeup was beautifully done making her the hot mom of the week. And she is…………..

Saturday night started with few jokes by the judges. Naved joked about the marriage alliance that he eyes for which was followed by a sher by Ravi and Jaaved calling them back and reminding to start the show.

The first mother to start the Saturday night family round was the pretty lady Neelu Rai who came in with her husband, brother, sister and niece. This family takes you on a yesteryear ride dancing on a medley comprising of few golden hits starting with “saamne ye kaun aaya”. Neelu wore a red color outfit with golden bottom and a golden scraf. She looked liked a doll. The scooter props that were used added extra charm to the performance. The dancing steps by the entire family was good. Her husband came in dancing to song “kahdu tumhe ya chup rahu” and both Neelu and her husband had a romantic time on the Boogie Woogie stage. The wall prop that was used was again very cute. Naved had a really big smile and it looked like he was enjoying the most. The closure of the performance was neat. Overall it was a good entertaining number. The after performance talk brought a comment from Ravi when he remarked saying “aap Bruce Lee jaise dance kar rahe the”. Jaaved corrected Mr. Rai’s Hindi. Mr. Rai dedicated a song to Darjeeling and sang it along with his brother and nephew. Naved gave Neelu the best compliment when he said “Darjeeling ka sunrise bahut khoobsurat hota hai aor woh sunrise humne yaha dekha hai”.

There was sher shayari competition at this point between Ravi and Naved. When Naved started the sher, it was completed by Ravi and vice versa making their audience laugh.

The second mother to perform in this family round was Ripanpreet Sidhu who was more then happy to perform and meet her entire family. She came in with her extended family and performed a Punjabi number. Ripanpreet wore a pretty red color ghagra but wore it in a punjabi style. She looked great and plus she was getting a chance to perform along with her husband and so her smile was saying it all. Her performance started with Punjabi verse from the song “sona sona” from movie Major Saab. She danced with her family on the above number and then it all clears up making room for a romantic number “teri ore” where she danced romantically with her husband. Both the pair looked good and her husband carried good smiles throughout. Ripans brother and her son then joins her along with entire family dancing to song “jee karda”. Overall steps were well synched making the entire performance a well entertaining number. The after performance talk informed that Ripan has couple of good singers in her family as her brother sang a song “munde gabaru” and girls performing a gidda on the stage. Mother was the cutest and was the highlight. Jaaved Jaaffery was especially pleased on seeing the large family and how they came in to support Ripanpreet and he was very happy. Ripan’s father who couldn’t join her in her family round, sent her a video clipping wishing his daughter for the competitions. It was emotional moment for Ripanpreet. Overall it did convey a message loud and clear that Ripan has a loving large family who will stand for her in her support at any time. Now Ripan just needs to come out of the inferior complex and work on the relations outside. A lot of times just because we are weak in one area such as language speaking, we think others when they speak that language are often making fun of us. It is not true. 99.99 percent of the times, people are not even bothered to gossip about us. We just need to forget the petty things and mix with everyone just the way we mix with our own family. They say right “winning hearts at home is easy but winning hearts with strangers is commendable”. We do hope to see the Ripan that we saw in the first episode all bubbly and cheerful back and out of the shell.

The last performance of the night was from sweet Harpreet kaur who came in with her husband, mother, sister, brother in law and her cousin. The intro of this performance was hilarious with husband and mother in law both making Harpreet do all the home work tiring her out and she in turn cursing her husband to be a woman to know what women go through. When the curse comes true, husband changes into a woman and so does the song “Maahi Ve” making them dance to it. Harpreet’s family as the judges said is a very talented family and so the performance should be loved by one and all. The entire steps choreographed were well performed by all members making it a must watch and thoroughly entertaining. The brother spoof in middle was neatly placed and it was awesomely done. The change of music in the end with faster steps was beautiful. The after performance talk is a MUST MUST Watch for one big reason and that is Harpreet’s brother in law who performed great mimicry on the stage. Don’t forget to watch it! It was totally a paisa wasool performance!! Harpreet also spoke very high about Naved and how he helped in making so many celebrities and yet maintains his humble and down to earth attitude. We fully agree with this statement and this blog stands true in admiration of this great superhero. We shall talk more about him in separate article tomorrow.

After the flashback and a little teasing, it was time for results which brought breath of fresh air in knowing that the judges decided not to eliminate anyone. Yes – there was no elimination this week but the following week will enter into the toughest rounds making mothers dance to the dance genre that they are least comfortable with. Thank You judges for no eliminations this week

Friday’s episode came with family round and all remaining mummy’s were excited not only to dance with their respective families but they were meeting them after a long time. Leaving family behind is not an easy task for anyone as missing family can make even the stronger of the strongest go weak. But last week, judges had asked Deepa Singh to do the opening of the show but looks like the family or her must be upset with the elimination and returned back instead of availing one more opportunity to dance on Boogie Woogie show. Well it is well understood and we wish them all the very best but Boogie Woogie’s family round came in rejuvenating all mothers bringing hope and happiness and giving the episode a fresh look – Must Watch of course!

The first mother to dance in this family round was Saili Desai who came in with her family and danced on a regional number. She was dressed prettily in a green saree and her family gave her good company. They all danced energetically and gracefully making the performance an overall entertaining number. Saili has been consistent in her performance and also has been surprising week after week. Her comedy round as Dada Kondke was the best according to my opinion. Back to her Friday’s episode, the after performance talk was funny and brought many good and happy moments to the stage.

The next mother to perform was Geeta Soni. She came in with her kids. She wore a green and red outfit and danced on the song “jhoomka gira re”. Geeta looked as usual very attractive and gave a scintillating performance. It was a good entertaining performance and both her daughter and son matched her dancing steps. Boo dancers were fabulous as usual and added their own charm. It was one colorful family talent show. The after performance was the most funniest with Geeta’s brother sending mithai for the judges and the way judges enjoyed the mithai.

The third mother to perform was Saba Bari who came in with her family. Saba’s entry and start of the performance was interesting and pretty good. She wore a light green and white combination color outfit and danced on song that was beautifully remixed. The song started with Saath Samandar par and it was mixed with Raghav’s Storyteller number “Teri Baaton mein”. It sounded awesome to the ears. A job very well done!! The steps they choose were great and all family members put in their best performance with Saba especially coming up with great expressions and smiles. Her steps were graceful as usual. The rotations that were performed came out pretty smooth. After performance talk brought few more good moments adding some icing especially when Saba’s brother sang one of my favorite number “Aye Zindagi Gale Laga le”. It was beautiful!

The next mother to perform was the strong willed lady “Sonia Dias” who came in with daughter, sister and friend. The pre performance talk was adorable and the performance started with the daughter making an entry on stage with her roller skates and a flute – it was one cute entry. Boo dancers then joined the little kid and they were absolutely wonderful. At this point Sonia and her sister who wore gray color pant and coat with pink shirt and black tie joined the stage dancing on song “jeele ek baar jeele”. We already knew Sonia is one of the best dancers but the family added their own charm making this performance a complete entertainment. It looked almost professional. I have never seen Sonia giving less then her 100 percent to any of her performance and just like she did before, she proves to be the toughest competitor for mummy’s and must gain an entry into finals if she continues the way she is now. Must Watch of course! The after performance talk was hilarious with some cool PJ’s from Sonia. Her daughter sang a song and Sonia got good compliments from Jaaved on her performance.

The last mother to perform on Friday night was another power talent Ritu Gupta. She came in with her entire family. The pre performance talk of Ritu’s family was honorable as her family spoke very well and respectfully. Ritu’s family round was a real family round with a beautiful story narration of marriage and its different functions. Ritu got married to her husband on the Boogie Woogie stage and it was a cute adorable performance. It started with song “Mehandi hai rachne wali” with Ritu in yellow color saree and she looked very pretty. The second song in the medley was “Tere ghar aaya main aya tujhko lene” with her husband joining in and then after the marriage entire family dancing on “balle balle soniya je rang dekhlo”. The thoomkas and jhatkaas were great in the steps. It was one complete entertaining number and yes is a must watch! The after performance talk made Ritu’s niece narrate a joke and also made her dance. The rest of the talk was funny and as well as informative. It also showed that Ritu’s family is happy go merry type. The highlight was when Ritu was asked what she would do with the money if she ends up winning the competition and she talked about her desire to open a dancing school so that she can give back to the society what she has benefited and learned out of the prestigious stage. She spoke very well and there was a lot of honesty and integrity in her talk.

With Ritu’s performance, it was end of Friday night’s Boogie Woogie episode and we were thinking since only 8 mummy’s were left and out of which 5 already performed on Friday night so what Boogie Woogie is planning to do with only 3 mothers for Saturday night – are they bringing in some surprises or some guests? Well we shall have those details for you in our next update

Saturday Indian Independence night started beautifully with VandeMataram on Boogie Woogie and the ones performed on this number were beautiful little kids who were accompanied by mummy’s in the end. Marvelous job indeed! This was not all in celebrating India’s Independence day (Aug 15th), very soon we heard all three judges – Javed, Naved and Ravi along with everyone that were present in the studios sing Indian national anthem superbly. Great Job Boogie Woogie – Proud of you!

After the celebrations, it was time for remaining mummy’s to perform on Saturday night and the first one to do so was Ritu Gupta who got Saif Ali Khan look alike as her partner. The performance started with a spoof with Karan Johar look alike in a show called the “K-Run”. It was one funny hilarious spoof which instantly tickles your funny bone. The song “bebo mein bebo” was a perfect start followed by medley with song “Twist” from love aaj kal dominating the performance. Both, look alike Saif and Ritu danced fabulously and used some good dancing steps. The change in color in Boo dancers looked great, the closure was good and overall it turned out to be a fabulously entertaining number. The after performance talk made look alike Saif narrate a real Saif dialogue from movie “Rahna hai is dil mein” and it was very well said.

The second mummy to perform was Deepa Singh who came in with Shahrukh Khan look alike. Deepa was dressed in beautiful purple gown and looked awesome. She danced on song “Diwangi” from movie “Om Shanti Om”. This performance not only made Deepa dance with Sharukh but brought all the look alike stars on the stage. It was different but entertaining number. The after performance talk made Deepa say that she wore the gown for the first time. She also talked about how her confidence was increased and how she enjoyed wearing the dress but then it was good only up to the stage and not carry it back home in her conservative family. Look alike Sharukh maintained his silence.

The next mother to dance was Saba Bari who got Emran Hashmi as her dancing look alike partner. Now this performance was hilarious and succeeds in making its audience laugh. It started with Killer news which was HILARIOUS! Saba Bari entered the stage in blue outfit and red scarf and danced energetically. She and her dancing partner both danced on Emran Hashmi’s medley. The one thing I love about Saba is which ever dancing steps she takes, she performs them with grace and perfection. She gives them her own feel and makes you feel good watching her. Her smile and expression was again fabulous. The after performance talk made Saba sing a song “chuhkar mere mann ko” and she did an alright job with it It was a good attempt!

Must Watch is Jagdeep look alike who yet again makes you roll with laughter. This time he sang a song “Iss desh ka yaaro kya kehna” in his own style.

The last mother to perform on Saturday night was Geeta Soni who got Salman Khan as her look alike partner. The entry of this performance was too good with Salman trying to put the wedding mala and his heroine ending up with another guy. This time the Boo choreographers came back with bang and with originality and it looked like some fresh concept. Geeta looked like a million bucks and made an entry on song “zara zara touch me”. She wore a black color outfit which complimented her performance and her figure to the core. Both Geeta and look alike Salman danced on song “Tenu leke” from movie “Salaam e Ishq” and did a fabulous job (without being bias!!) They both put on good steps and carried the required smile and expressions. They threw in a very well entertaining performance which makes it must watch! Boo dancers were great and their color combination  they wore, complimented the performance. Geeta was surprised to see her brother and bhabhi visit her and her expression said it all. Her family spoke really very well in her support and encouragement.

After a sher from look alike Jagdeep on Ravi, it was time for flash back and results. Unfortunately the one mother to get eliminated was Deepa Singh! We wish her very best for all her future endeavors and hope to see her back on Boogie Woogie stage soon.

Friday night started Boogie Woogie with Ishq Bector performing “Chal be Shaane Task Kar” on Boogie Woogie stage along with Boo dancers. It was well performed item and should be enjoyed by all.

Before we get onto which mummy started the performance first, lets talk about the judges – All three judges Naved, Javed and Ravi looked their best. Naved sported a white coat, Ravi in Gray color suit pant and Jaaved in Blue color jacket. Good colors and styles and they looked great!

This week it was look alike special and mummy’s were suppose to dance with the look alike actors. Now look alike specials has always been very special for Boogie Woogie fans and so this week should be super hit among them.

The first mummy to start the competition was Ripanpreet Singh who got Shahid Kapoor as her partner. Ripanpreet sported a bright red color outfit and danced with look alike Shahid on “Aye Paapi” song. It was well done job as far as performance was concerned. The after performance talk was funny when look alike Shahid said Ripan ke saath chemistry nahi aati on which Ravi promptly remarked saying its good that there is no chemistry or else it would be a problem with her husband. Look alike Shahid brought Kadaas and scarfs from Gurdwara for the judges.

The second mummy to perform was Saili Desai who got look alike Amitabh Bachan as her partner. I liked the entry of look alike Amitabh at beginning of the show. Saili wore a yellow color ghagra and look alike Amitabh was in black outfit with orange pullover. The Boo choreographer tried to bring some comedy and so added a dialogue for Amitabh calling Saili his mother and then dancing on song “Pardesiya”. Sometimes I think the Boogie Woogie choreographers mind goes to docks and that’s why maybe due to overload of work they end up with bad comedy. But anyway the performance of both Saili and look alike was entertaining minus the bad mother joke. After performance brought good comments from Jaaved Jaaffery for Saili. The mimicry of look alike Amitabh was good.

The next mother to perform was Neelu Rai who came in with two look alikes – Arshad Warsi and Sanjay Dutt. Neelu wore a black and white outfit. It first started with Neelu and Arshad Warsi dancing and then the second half brings Sanjay Dutt. There were many dialogues and even jokes of Munnabhai MBBS. Overall entertaining performance!

Before the next mother would perform the look alikes of Arshad and Sanjay gave out bad news of Kiran who was a look alike of Shatrughan Sinha that he died. Judges and the entire Boogie Woogie audience stood 2 minutes in silence as mark of respect and condolence. Our heartiest condolences to the family. May God give them enough strength to overcome this tough time.

The next mother to perform was Harpreet Kaur who came in with look alike Sunny Deol. Harpreet and Sunny Deol finally manages to put the magic that was missing in other performances. The dish that both Harpreet and Sunny presents was a perfect dish for Friday night – with right amount of spices and salt. Nothing was missing and should tastes just perfect on your tongue. Look alike Sunny Deol has been his very best each and every time he came to Boogie Woogie and I of all the people love watching him. He is not only a good dancer but an awesome comedian and mimics Sunny to the core thus making his performance a MUST WATCH. Harpreet wore a pretty pink Punjabi kurta lungi where as Sunny wore a brown color punjabi with red pagdi and maroon waist coat. They danced on medley and used some good steps making the performance perfectly synched. It was hard to make out if the magic was from Harpreet or from look alike Sunny Deol but both performed very well and managed to keep viewers eyes glued to the TV screen. After performance talk was funny.

The last mother to perform on Friday night was Sonia Dias who got look alike Hritik Roshan as her partner. Now look alike Hritik is also very popular just like look alike Sunny and has made place in many hearts especially after the sawaal jawab with Shakil Siddiqui which is still a hot topic on YouTube Anyway, coming back to performance, the entry was neat with Jadoo on the stage. Look alike Hritik wore yellow shirt and maroon pant and Sonia first came in as Jadoo and then changed into a red hot lady dancing in tune with the energies of look alike Hritik. The song they choose to perform was “you are my sonia” from movie Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham. Sonia displayed full confidence and her steps were awesome. There is something in Sonia that says she is not here just for the heck of it and when she performs she means strict business. She has been putting her very best in her each and every performance and that shows all the time. She indeed is a strong will woman who after going through a big tragedy, stood up and took the decision to fight for her dream and also to look after her family. Another thing that was fabulous in her performance were the Boo dancers. In other performances, except for Harpreet, it looked like there were many Boo dancers or maybe the performance from other mothers wasn’t at par that the attention was going more towards the Boo dancers then to the main dancers but with both Harpreet and Sonia, everything looked in good deserving number and not too much crowd on the stage. I enjoyed it very well! The after performance talk brought some funny moments as well as emotional moments especially when the clip was shown of Sonia’s daughter, sister and mother speaking and encouraging her. And yes finally we got to hear some AWESOME PJ’s from Sonia. MUST WATCH!!

With 10 Mummy’s down for the ultimate crown of Boogie Woogie’s Mummy Championship 2009, it is now time to start the hottest mummy of the week starting this week! Along with the hottest Mummy we also will be highlighting three best performer mummy’s as the Rising Stars of the Week! It is definitely time to add masala and maybe start some discussions too

Hottest mummy criteria is based on who looked the best in their makeover that includes their make up, hairstyle, costume, jewelry based on the theme that was given to them to perform along with what confidence they came with and how they handled their new look whereas rising stars of the week is my choice of three best performances that “I” adored and whom I think got an upper hand over other mummy’s this week. 

Episode 21 and 22 brought three mummy’s to the limelight who performed like a professional. I felt they succeeded in keeping their viewers glued to their seats and from no angle they looked like average mothers coming out of household but looked like professional dancers who have been dancing for good amount of time. They stood out like a million bucks!

The mother’s that we pick as this week’s STARS based on their performance are:

  GEETA SONI

And the HOTTEST MUMMY of the week goes to ……….

August 9th brought Actor superstar “Sunil Shetty” to the Boogie Woogie studios to add charm to the Disco Mamma round. It all started with Ravi and Naved singing “JJ aja aja aja” and Jaaved Jaaffery making an entry by singing “yaad aa raha hai” song and then the entry was made by one of the cool daddy “Sunil Shetty” dancing on Boney M’s track “Daddy Cool”. For one second I thought “has Boogie Woogie amended their international label rules and started to play the songs?” and then soon it was revealed that the track was actually from upcoming movie “Daddy Cool”. Both Jaaved Jaaffery and Sunil Shetty are in the movie along with other multicast and we shall talk about it in a separate article. Coming back to the Mummy’s……

The first mummy that was announced by the judges was Sonia Dias and she came in dancing on track “koi yaha aha nache nache”. Now I found myself making points that Sonia is looking completely different – what a makeover!! And then I realized that it wasn’t really Sonia but was Harpreet Kaur. The name was wrongly announced by our dear judges Anyway Harpreet Kaur was the first mother to start the performance on Saturday night and looked stunning wearing yellow outfit. Her makeover, her makeup, her hairstyle – Voila!! The mixing of the song was again worth applaud and was done very neatly. She does justice to the choreography that was designed for her and leaves you with good feelings. She received good compliments from Sunil Shetty. I don’t know how many have observed but Harpreet can be a good orator. She has a knack of speaking well. Just like the song “making love out of nothing at all”, Harpreet makes sense in all her explanation and comes with beautiful and unique concepts. She said Jaaved Jaaffery is like a grandfather and the logic behind was simply beautiful. She does goes little off on the topic “talent” and “drugs” but then manages to come right back on her point.

The second mother to dance was pretty Neelu Rai who made a good entry along with Boo dancers. I loved the Boo dancers blue and green leafy costume – it was attractive. Neelu wore a bright red color costume which complimented her figure very well. She danced on song Disco 82. The steps that were used were cute and it was good entertaining performance. The after performance talk informed that she is Sunil Shetty’s fan and she likes his eyes. “Shy” Sunil responded back with words “thank you”. Jaaved Jaaffery liked her performance and gave good compliments to her. Both Sunil Shetty and Jaaved Jaaffery talks about the movie “Daddy Cool” and their respective roles. It sure sounds interesting.

Boogie Woogie surprised mummy’s by throwing in a party for them to sort their differences and make them forget any untoward incidents that occurred in the past. Clippings were shown where Mummy’s enjoyed and had fun at the party. One could see how much mummy’s were happy as they looked just like small happy kids. I am sure these memories will last these lucky mummy’s their entire lifetime. The party proves Naved’s saying: “Ache log jodte hai, bure log todte hai”. That’s WHAT’S UP BOOGIE WOOGIE… Keep it Up!!

The next mother to dance was Sonia Dias who made a grand entry from a ball shaped lift. She danced on song “Hone do dil ko fanaa”. Sonia till date has been proving her talent and her hard work is showing in her every performance. She manages to keep herself away from heated arguments and if she says something, makes an effort to sort it out quickly by good comments as well. She danced perfectly just like a winner. MUST WATCH!  She had excellent expressions and all her moves looked thoroughly professional. The way she kept with the boo dancers energies was excellent. It looked like one professional performance. I loved her closure too – Marvellous! The after performance talk was intelligent especially when Sonia reverted the criticism that she once placed on Geeta and complimented on her hard work and talent. She also spoke words of praise for Sunil Shetty.

Another few clippings were shown from the Boogie Woogie party where there was a gulab jamun contest between Darshana and Deepa to see how many gulab jamuns can one eat in 15 seconds.

The next mother to perform was pretty doll Geeta Soni who entered the stage with lights and she wore a green and red color costume. She looked very colorful, beautiful and fantastic. Geeta danced on song “chor chor” song (shahero ki galiyo mein…. ), The last three performances consisting of Sonia, Geeta and Saba can only come with the best remarks and compliments. These dancers took the performance to entire new height and is without any doubt MUST WATCH!! Geeta’s performance was very well narrated and looked thoroughly professional. From no angle it looked like one mother was dancing. Awesome job!! After performance talk brought Sunil Shetty to the stage where Geeta danced with him.

The last but definitely not the least mummy to perform was Saba Bari who dressed up as bhoot and came with a getup that makes you glue to your chair. She wore white gown with black tights and danced around skeletons. Boo dancers were again fantastic and adds to the performance. The changing of track from “Ramba ho ho” to “its the time to disco” was neatly done. The beats complimented the dancing steps that were designed for Saba. She received great compliments from Javed Jaaffery as he said hers was the best item so far. MUST MUST WATCH!!

Some funny clippings were shown of mummys who did mimicry of judges during the party and were also awarded some funny prizes on behalf of Boogie Woogie. Javed spoke about the criteria of this weeks round and how it was based on adaptability outside the comfort area and how one handles versatility.

The unfortunate mother to get eliminate this week was Darshana Kohli who got standing applause from the judges for the wonderful dancer that she is in her genre but lost on the disco round. We wish Darshana very best of best and do hope to see her back on apna Boogie Woogie real soon!! (I wonder if the word “apna” alarms Boogie Woogie?)
