It was really interesting to listen to Jaaved Jaafferi speak about himmat (courage) and he spoke a lot of truth. We will try to talk about couple of topics that he spoke about in the coming days. ;)

Okay Friday night we saw four groups had participated so it was turn for the remaining four groups to perform on Saturday night.  The winner of this groups will walk away with many prizes.

The first group to perform was Jai Hanuman Kalamanch from Raigarh. You know what? I liked their performance as soon as their AV was shown. Music plays a big role in any performance and the song "jai Hanuman" (I hope that is the right title) sounded awesome to the ears. The group got brilliant compliments from the judges and Ravi gave them standing applause. I am guessing this group must have won but I need to wait and watch ;)

The second group to perform was Creation Ballet Troupe from West Bengal. It was a neat performance and they used some props too which added some more charm to their performance. They too perfomed on a semi classical number. The way they spoke so confidently that they will win, I really had high expectations but what was more interesting was their after performance talk.

The next to perform was Blossom Group. This group was larger in number. They danced on semi classical number "joh geet nahi janma woh geet gaayenge". They performed pretty good but it looked more like they were jumping in their steps which was kind of odd. After performance talk was hilarious.

Okay at this point someone came from the audience to dance on pappu cant dance… watch it!! It was hilarious spoof!

The last performance of the night was from Hind Motor Nrityangan Academy from West Bengal. This group danced on simple steps and did a good job but I dont know why I was feeling like something was missing. I wasn’t too crazy about the music either. But don’t go by my review maybe I am still sleep deprived. But I was very excited to see the group leader Deepa who was the one from Moms Championships and great to learn that she is doing fabulous in life. God bless her!

Okay time for results and the winner of the many prizes in Himmat ki Kheemat Week 1 is as guessed "Jai Hanuman Kala Manch". Congratulations Jai Hanuman Group - you all did wonderful job!! Keep it up!! And all the best wishes to the rest of the groups from this fan blog!

Before I say goodnight, I must say the last piece where all the groups danced together was fantastic! 5 stars for that!! ;)

Have a goodnight folks and have a lovely day today to folks on the other side of the globe!!

Today Boogie Woogie started with its new series called "Himmat ki Kheemat". It will be a group dance competition where they will be plenty of prizes every week and the best group performing will walk away with all the prizes.

Four groups performed today and four will be performing on Saturday night. And the best among these eight groups will be the winner. It was exciting to see prizes and the show in its new light.

I really liked the way Boogie Woogie started with its recap and showed what happened last week. That was good job! But I personally feel Mumbaians can’t spell Kheemat. They always write the word as Kimmat - Change in spelling is demanded or the person whoever wrote needs to do gargle ;) Though the judges stress on the word to make audience learn the right pronunciation but looks like the editor skipped out on the pronunciation lesson. lol But I really liked the way the series was introduced by Ravi, Naved and Javed - it was different and something that picks your interest instantly. The best thing I found was the way they tried to correct the pronunciation of many words like Microwave oven. That’s whats up! I think Boogie Woogie is the only show which is informative, acts as a teacher and at the same time maintain its lighter side.

The first group to perform was Vaishnavi Group from Saharanpur and they danced on song "aaj radha ko shaam yaad aagaya". Boogie Woogie’s group performances I always enjoy. They have their own charm. And so today you will have the same feeling and will not be disappointed. Girls did a fantastic job and were dressed colorful. They were also synched. The group used the entire stage and the performance gave you a festive feeling. Great selection of song and mixing. Coordination of the group was fabulous. On the whole - a fabulous performance. After performance talk was hilarious. I liked the four pillar thing. It was the cutest thing to watch kids coming in again and again to take away the microphone from their parents. The group got great compliments from the judges. The wish one of the parent made  in favor of Boogie Woogie was mind blowing. Amen to that!

The next group to perform was Ankita Group from Indore and they performed Kathak on classical song. I am not aware of the title but the performance was graceful. I don’t want to go in technicalities but there are some dances when you watch they sound peaceful, serene to you. It makes you feel good. This dance was one of that! It was beautifully put and all the girls did a great job. My only problem I felt was it was too short. I really was enjoying the performance but it got over too fast. I wished it had continued little longer. Keep it up Ankita Group! The after performance talk was again very interesting and entertaining. Listen to Naved and Ravi talk about how Javed and them learnt dance and how they were creative. A important lesson to be learnt for all dancers.

At this point Sony Entertainment Television ran a clarification on screen that said "DEAR VIEWERS, PLEASE NOTE THAT SONY ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION HAS NOT HELD ANY AUDITIONS FOR BOOGIE WOOGIE IN ANY CITY IN INDIA SINCE SEPTEMBER 2008 AND AS OF DATE HAS NOT FINALIZED ANY DATES FOR FUTURE AUDITIONS. THESE AUDITIONS HAVE BEEN AND ALWAYS BE WITHOUT ANY PARTICIPATION FEE. PLEASE REMAIN CAUTIOUS OF ANY FALSE ADVERTISEMENTS OF AUDITIONS HELD BY THIRD PARTIES ON BEHALF OF SONY ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION"

I hope all participants have made a note of the above clarification. And also all those who were enquiring about audition dates, I hope are all clear now. But REMEMBER no FEE at all for auditions so if you see one taking, inform them! I know America Boogie Woogie did charge fee!!

Watch Ravi and Naved eat gold ;)

The next group to perform on Friday night was Nritya Vatika Dance Academy from Delhi. They performed semi classical and did a great job. They danced on the song from movie "Tohfa" and the song was "tohfa qubool hai hame". All five girls danced well. The after performance talk was interesting and very touching especially the mother and son moment. It sure must be difficult for kids who have both parents as working parents.

The last group for the night was Shree Group from Baroda and I am telling you - its one performance you dont want to miss!! Must must watch!! They danced on song "Mere dholna". It was a big group but the coordination and the synchronization between the group was simply fabulous. This can surely be added to one of the Boogie Woogie’s finest performances. I can say it was the best performance for the night. Don’t miss it! Get the reruns or you can watch either at Apni Community or India Forums. They are doing a great job by uploading videos, make sure to watch them. After performance talk was again interesting and funny. The best thing was when Javed talked about unity. We will talk in detail during the week day. But it was the cutest and sweetest thing to watch the parent of Shree on the stage. Absolutely adorable!!

With this Friday’s episode ended and on Saturday night another four groups will perform and whoever wins will walk away with all the prizes. So all the very best to all the groups!

Boogie Woogie winded the show with a cooking class and taught a priceless lesson of how to cook chicken in microwave oven - watch it!!  ;)

thumbs20070709200239ka0 Sony Television’s Boogie Woogie follow some of the rules very religiously. Please read them carefully while you prepare yourself for either your audition or for a performance at Boogie Woogie.

In a way, I feel it is great that they list all their conditions in black and white well in advance as this will give a participant a chance to prepare better and there are no surprises at later stage. Plus I do applaud them for keeping the environment clean of any obscenity.

Please see below to read some of the critical rules:

  • You will have to go for your auditions with three songs. You need to give them your selection well before the contest. Boogie Woogie administration will have the final say in selecting the song which you will get to perform out of the three songs that were selected. Please note that they are very particular about the song selection and no song that you select should have any vulgarity or obscene language. Please be careful in selecting your songs.
  • You are responsible to provide your own music CD that you will be performing on. So please make sure to have a backup of your CD in case the first CD has some malfunction.
  • Only Solo performances are allowed at the audition and only one dance item is allowed to perform per contestant.
  • Duration of your performance has to be limited to 3 minutes. Any performance that exceeds the time limit is given penalty which will reduce your chances to get selected for the next round.
  • You are allowed to use free standing decorations or props such as plants, small furniture etc that can be set up in less than one minute at your own will and cost. You cannot take any decorations that will pose safety hazard at the sets. Candles or Dia’s are not allowed. The decorations that you want to take with you are your own responsibility and Boogie Woogie will not pay for it.

A lot of times even the strongest dancer looses by a point or two while competing in competitions. Many of us wonder where we went wrong. Dancing steps were unique and perfect yet they did not score the marks that they deserve. What can be the reason? Well let us look at some of the finer points that are essential for dancing competitions. It will be a good exercise especially with so many auditions happening right now for Boogie Woogie.

The most essential ingredient that you must take along with you is your “Attitude”. Attitude scores a lot – lot more then your own hard work or anything else in this world. Bad attitude – a looser big time! So what do we need to do to keep a check on our attitude? First and foremost thing is to think before you utter a single word. Keep your conversations KIND. Kindness is always appreciated. We did witness that in some of the shows didn’t we? Especially in public voting, a person with kind and humble attitude always gain. So be it! Practice kindness along with you dancing skills.

Smile!! They say “smile” always brings back a smile. A smile has the power to heal a lot of stuff. It sure can make a judge in bad mood see your performance in a different perspective. A perfect dance but a stiff no smiling face may ruin a good performance. Now  that is another matter if the dance that you are performing is a sad or angry number – then in that case you sure have to keep your smile miles away but make sure to bring your smile back as soon as you finish your performance and have to face the judges.

No Argument what so ever!! My boss at my previous job “George Brunath” who is my mentor has taught me a lot. The most important thing that he taught me was not to argue especially with your boss. In competitions, a judge is your boss. Just listen to him with a smile – don’t get into arguments even though you strongly feel that you are right. That might ruin your chances to go forward. My boss always told me there are three rules – First rule, Boss is right! Second rule – Boss is right! If you don’t agree with the first two rules then consider third rule and that is “Follow first and second rule”!! So without much ado, I would suggest that when you are pointed out your mistakes just hear them out and acknowledge by saying “You will perform better next time”

Go to have fun! Winning or loosing is not all. Keep one thing in mind that if you loose this competition or even loose out in audition, it is NOT the end of the world!  There is always tomorrow. Nothing is ending today. Till the time this earth is rotating, there will be many opportunities that will keep coming your way. Go with a positive attitude but be serious in what you are doing. Give your best shot and leave the rest to God. If you make it, well and good or else you surely will make it tomorrow – don’t give up and don’t feel let down. A lot of times failures teaches us more then what a success can teach. Learn from it – Improve yourself! Thomas Alva Edison was once asked “how does he feel that he failed 99 times before he finally succeeded inventing a bulb the 100th time? To this he politely answered, “I now knows 99 ways of how not to make a bulb.” So have fun no matter what you face!

Last but not least for today’s article – Use your Sense of Humor!! I personally love and adore people who have sense of humor. Humor eases a lot of things. It makes life so much less complicated and plus people love you more because you are a happy person. If by keeping your humor in place you win few new friends or gets to be a favorite, nothing wrong in it right? It is only beneficial to you. And I believe everyone does has a good sense of humor – you just have to dig it out from within you and if you feel you don’t then please do watch lot of comedy shows or see/read cartoons in your free time. These will help you develop your taste in humor plus it will surely keep you happy. Remember, a happy and jovial contestant everybody would want to see in the next round.

A hard working jovial contestant with right attitude and sense of humor – a sure shot winner all the way!! Now all you have to do is concentrate on your dancing skills and think of innovative ways to impress your judges.
