thank you As we all know, on July 11th, we celebrated our anniversary of Boogie Woogie India Blog. Boogie Woogie India is a fan blog running in appreciation and fully dedicated to the show and our dear judges – Ravi, Naved and Jaaved. As part of our celebrations, we gave ourselves a day off only to return today to be surprised pleasantly.

Our dear Firdaus left us a message congratulating us on the occasion and rejuvenating our spirits once again. She also brought us a personalized message from the judges – Ravi, Naved and Jaaved. Here is their message for all of you folks:

WE EXIST BECAUSE OF FANS LIKE YOU AND YOUR LOVE IS OUR STRENGTH SO KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND SHOWER YOUR BLESSINGS ON US SO THAT WE COULD LIVE UP TO YOUR EXPECTATIONS ALWAYS…INSHALLAH AAPKE ZINDAGI MAIN AISE KAYEEN ANNIVERSARY AAYE … AMEEN.

The message from them is the best gift we could ever ask for. Though nothing less is expected from the messiahs of goodness, we would like to thank them from the core of our heart and let them know that they are in our prayers always! As per us – they shall always find us right here supporting them and loving them just like we do now. We LOVE YOU! Long Live Boogie Woogie!!

dog_clone Different people have different opinion regarding judge’s verdict and also for public voting. Though in Democratic India, hardly 60 percent people exercise their right to vote and out of that 60 percent who vote, more then half of the people are not even aware of the whereabouts of the leader that they choose. Many of the votes are a result of one time meal offer in exchange for a vote plus Rs. 10/- note as a prize for voting - it’s a pure sale of ones rights in favor of the rich politicians. And then the rest of the votes, a majority of them are the result of blind faith. 90 percent of the educated people don’t even bother to vote – we only believe in talking big. Well let me not go there at all because it is a never ending story. Anyway, let us come to reality shows and its public voting versus judge’s judgment.

taraazu Should public be given responsibility for selecting their favorite candidate? Yes of course why not! If we get to bear so and so candidate for an hour twice a week, we should be allowed to choose or eliminate whoever we want. But do we exercise our rights fairly? Of course not!! Only 1 percent of the population goes for the fair voting rest is a long story.

verdict Almost all of the reality shows have public voting and a number of candidates selected by public voting is based on region, language and what not. There are some singing shows that were very reputable once upon a time and now have lost its reputation due to the same public voting resulting in good candidates getting eliminated at early stages because they do not meet the unfair criteria. Now Boogie Woogie is the only show that is respected for its fair judgment and as time goes by, the respect also increases because it follows a certain format. For Boogie Woogie, “only” talent matters. They don’t care for anything else. Yes that’s how it should be.

heart Okay now let us look at the public viewing of a talent versus judge’s way of judging. “We” the people who think we exercise fairness, for most of us when we see a performance, if music sounds good to our ears, almost half the battle of the contestant is won. Then the second most important factor to us is a contestants attitude and approach, his or her smile, niceness, looks, dance steps that either we are seeing for the first time or seeing after a long time. Their sense of dressing also counts. We unconsciously start to compare if we can do the same performance or not and if not then that performance is fantabulous provided we like the candidate or else no way only highway for that contestant. We don’t think twice to curse if they go against our hearts. Our heart rules 99.99 percent in our judgments and we find ourselves cry when our favorite contestant cry, laugh when our contestant laughs, and we find ourselves ready to take that extra step to promote him or her to get the final victory leaving our own personal goals high and dry - yeah we the common people are pretty emotional you see. And technicalities – who the heck cares?? If the dancer dances on beats or not doesn’t really matter as long as it sounds good to our ears. We rule with our hearts, we are big hearts!! Now let’s move on to the monsters who rule by their brain – judge’s ;) (oh boy am I in trouble? Well we will figure out someone to blame it on later)

brain rules Judge’s especially the "Boogie Woogie judge’s" – the "perfectionist" who play their role strictly in a lighter way, let’s look at them little bit. The best thing about them is that they always have their last word but they never make it sound like that. Some art haa? They are very well known for bringing out the real talent from all parts of real India. For them all aspects of technicalities matter sometimes their technicalities can break our little hearts just like it did at times when contestants like Swasti got eliminated. For them, if it is a dance, then it better look like dance, cuteness and drama doesn’t have any weightage. For them, a dance cannot be a dance if the beats are going north and steps are in south not even when the contestant is cute or hot.. oh my my… pure brain people - they are SO off from us hearts!! But yes they do have a point and that is why they are so much respected. They not only judge but also educate the people around them free of cost which is a marvelous thing. They do not let their hearts rule when it comes to judging. Things like “oh she is cute so she must win” or “that is poor family so they deserve to win” does not occur in their dictionary. There are plenty of cute and there are plenty of poor but when they reach Boogie Woogie sets, they are nothing but one and the best among all must win! That is their attitude.

So the recent discussion of public voting versus let the judges continue to judge Boogie Woogie, brought lots of interesting arguments. Many feel strong that Boogie Woogie must not bring public voting and must maintain the old standards and many feel it is time that public voting be introduced. Two of my very dear friends spoke in favor of judge’s and I am going to put their exact words here:

Rahul: IMHO (in my honest opinion) … I think Boogie Woogie should not change the format of eliminations … it is the FAIREST reality show that is out there …. and think that is what makes it to special

Shobha: Ditto Rahul. clip_image001I wanted to say this and I voted to say no public voting. Look at what happened to SRGMP

Then of course you must have read few other comments on the blog by our members – Shruti, Kavitha and Ananth.. Plus a majority of people have voted in favor of No Public Voting but it is still on till Firdaus asks us to put an end. You want to know something strange? The number of people who voted either in favor or against public voting are not even 1 percent to the traffic that gets here everyday - why I wonder? Is it that difficult to choose one of the option? It is only one vote per IP so why not vote?

Anyway if you ask me my opinion, I think as much as it is important that public should be booimgable to choose their candidate as it is OUR right, it is just that India is NOT ready for public voting yet. We still have a long way to go before we really can vote fairly. Our hearts will not allow us in judging fairly still and will pull us towards either some region or cuteness or towards some other reason. Many of our young girls will still vote to the cutest guy around, and many young guys will vote to the hottest girl on the show and many of our elders will vote for their own regions. They say heart has its reasons that reasons does not know but don’t get me wrong, we are not that bad for following our hearts. I still will say if my decisions were not ruled by my heart, this blog wouldn’t be here. So let us cheer ourselves and sit back and relax and let the judges give their verdict. 9 out of 10 times, we are going to agree with them and every once in a while we will not. So what’s the big deal? The day we don’t agree with them, we will get together and fight with them - just the way we did in past. If we call them our OWN then it is our right isnt? ;)

Well while we wait and see what Boogie Woogie decides regarding it’s public voting, we can only hope that whatever maybe the decision, may the talent shine always just like it does now and nothing be effected negatively if there is a change in format.

honesty Since the time this blog came into effect, we have been writing that this is only a fan blog and has nothing to do with the OFFICIAL channel or the show – “Boogie Woogie”. I don’t think there can be any other honest way then what we have adopted for this blog.

Anytime, anyone communicated whether it was via emails or via comments, we always have guided them to Boogie Woogie’s official physical address in Mumbai and have given their official website and email id. We are a fan blog running in appreciation for the show and moreover for the judges for their unbiased judgment and the real life lessons that they teach in their own style.

This blog has no commercial value and also you will not see any silly pop ups or advertisements. We wanted to keep the blog free of any ads only so that “WE” and “FANS LIKE US” can show our appreciation and dedication for the people who we admire the most – Javed, Naved and Ravi.

We publish any news related to auditions that we see on air either in India or in US that we feel might help the aspirants of Boogie Woogie. None of the information that we bring you is fabricated or is published for any of our good. What we see, we publish that.

Recently we had uploaded third party videos and pictures and they are by no means downloaded by us as they are available over internet and on various third party hosts and communities. We have stopped embedding Boogie Woogie videos and pictures after coming to know that MSM Satellite does not give rights for publishing and hence you will not see any videos or pictures of Boogie Woogie on this site with immediate effect for all our future articles and reviews. Although BoogieWoogieIndia.Com did contact Sony prior to publishing this website to go through the web content and features that it will be dealing with and when there was no response whatsoever, this blog continued to embed videos and pictures.

lousy Anyway what came as a blast to us was when we read that MSM was ACCUSING this blog for conducting auditions in United States of America pretending to be Boogie Woogie and charging the contestants a fee of $50/-. That is the most RETARDED thing we have ever heard in our life!

reality-check There were advertisements that were broadcasted on air regarding the auditions on Sony Channel in USA for every few minutes that gave the contact numbers and regular updates and I am sure many Non Resident Indians and American Indians can vouch for it. This blog also had contacted the local organizers in USA and received audition fee details and application form via email. We DO hold the email and picture screen shots as a proof against the ghastly accusation by retarded company such as MSM. Also there was advertisement on air that had collaborated Boogie Woogie New York finals at South Sea Port in New York along with Deepawali celebrations where singer Raghav had participated. IF THIS IS CLAIMED AS A SCAM BY MSM THEN THEY NEED TO LOOK AT THEIR BROADCASTING DATES AND question their OFFICIALS in USA FROM WHERE IT ORIGINATED and they better research it right and get their facts straighten up before accusing this blog!

There are pictures of contact numbers and updates for USA Auditions that went on air and those pictures WILL NOT be removed from this blog as a precaution and proof of it being telecasted on air.

Also we think its time that the participants and aspirants who paid the fee in hope to be part of Boogie Woogie Chalo America, needs to find out what it is all about. If Sony refuses to have any connection with the contacts then how come they were advertised on their channel and why is it being denied now? People - it’s your right – get to the core of it!!

This blog will continue to run in full swing in admiration of the judge’s Ravi, Naved and Javed and also for the talent that is show cased on Boogie Woogie. We just will not have the pictures and videos. As for MSMGET WELL SOON!!

77D_boogie_woogie_show-2 Boogie Woogie India is proud to bring you reviews of Sony’s Boogie Woogie by Boogie Woogie Fans. As they say – the best praise that can be taken as the highest reward is not the one that is given by media or at any award ceremony but the one that is given by the people who play big role in a show’s success – the viewers of course! And so here is what fans had to say about the show – Enjoy!

  • The episode telecast at the U.A.E. had fantastic five troupes. Each had a distinct dance style and fantastic choreography. From Vande Mataram, Mickel Jackson, humorous tamil song presentation to Durga pooja. The troupe from Pune who presented the Matha Vandana and the group who presented "Vetti Madithukatu" were selected to the next stage. These trios and the guest  Jackie Shroff must have had a real tough time to choose from them. I was really surprised to know that none of them who had presented tamil film song knew tamil  nor had seen the original film dance. Yet it was amazing that the choreography represented the meaning of song ( I being a tamilian) and I also could nt control the laughter just as those who were there in the live audience. Kudos to them.
Kudos to the trio and Sony

  • These days there are many dance shows on tv.Most of them are so-called reality shows where you must dance and sweet-talk with celebrity judges.Boogie-Woogie does this too but differently. Here is a show that’s totally given to excellence. The focus is on individual innovation and not on celebrity-choreographer hotc-potch.This show started by Naved Jaffery,Ravi Behl and Javed Jaffery proved that dance shows were possible on indian television. As we know, these people started real small. For years they were a kind of sideshow.then, one realised that they were actually attracting serious dancers.People who want to dance well and nothing else.We have seen some awesome performances on Boogie-Woogie.Primarily because innovation, ideation and above all creation is encouraged here. There are other dance shows too.But they are too focussed on mindless entertainment.Boogie Woogie(the name is outdated) provides a platform for the serious, dedicated dancer no matter how you look, your age or your weight.Only your skills and showmanship are considered nothing else.Hats off to Boogie Woogie and may their tribe increase.

  • I have been watching this show since I was a kid” say most kids in their late teens and early 20’s on the show.  Javed, Naved, and Ravi, the creators, the hosts, and the judges of the show never get tired of listening to this phrase over and over because it has been around for 12 years.  These three incredibly cool people make everybody feel welcomed and they give exposure to the much needed talented kids of India.  Due to the warmth and the passion for dance in this show, the show has audience of all ages.  It was off air for a little while but came back with a boom or should I say “BOO!”.  As most of the viewers of the show, I too enjoyed the leg pulling of the contestants and the comedy done by all of the judges.  However, this show is more about talent.  I am so amazed by the contestants on this show.  As a viewer, you get to see a variety ranging from hip-hop dances to classical dances of India.   Some are excellent break dancers while some are excellent folk dancers. After its reincarnation, the show has become more serious.  The stage looks more stylish and it seems as if the producers are spending more money now than before.  They are also including money prizes these days to encourage people to continue their dreams in the dancing industry.  Another good thing about this show is that the hosts are promoting our Indian Culture across the Globe.  They have made dancing a medium through which they reach children of Indian descent from all over the world.  They do many good things that are good for children to learn.  For example, they always pay respect to the elders who come to watch their grand children.  In additioin, they encourage kids to dance to songs that are more appropriate for them according to their age.  For example, Javed pointed out to a girl who was only 12 but was dancing in an improper way to an inappropriate song.  These are just few things that make it a good family entertaining show.
