Mudras in Bharatnatayam – Boogie Woogie India

asamyuta Mudras Head Mudras: Sama - level, Udvaahita – raised up, Adhomukha – down cast face, Aalolita – rolling, Dhuta – shaken sideways, Kampita – nodded, Paraavrtta – turned round, Utksipta – thrown up, Parivaahita – widely moved.

Neck Mudras: Sundari – to and fro horizontally, Tirascinaa – upward movement on both sides, Parivartitaa – right to left like half moon, Prakampitaa – backward and forward movement.

Eye Mudras: Sama – level, Aalokita – keen glance, Saaci – side long, Pralokita – wide glance, Nimilita – closed, Ullokita – looking up, Anuvrtta – quickly up and samyuta hastasdown, Avalokita – looking down.

Hand Mudras: Asamyuta Hasta – it can be executed by either one right or left hand or by both hands, Samyuta Hasta – gestures formed by uniting both the hands, and other mudras also include hand gestures which denotes all the Gods and Goddesses, and even the nine planets, moon, and also rivers. These mudras are: Deva Hasta, Dashavatara Hasta, Navagraha Hasta, Jaati Hasti, Bandhu Hasta and Nritta Hasta.
