ATT00001 On Friday night we saw five mummys show casing their talent on the prestigious stage and now it was turn for the next group of mummy’s to perform and outbeat the performance of Friday night’s mummy’s.

Ravi and Naved danced to the stage and it was their welcome to Idea’s Boogie Woogie! Saturday night brought 6 mummys and six are suppose to move forward to next round. They also explained that the initial elimination will last for 4 weeks and that is when the main rounds will begin.

The first mother to start the Saturday episode was Harpreet Kaur who came in from Mumbai and who is 32 years old. I was slightly confused on why Harpreet said she is from Punjab but the TV screen kept on showing she is from Mumbai but in after performance talk it was cleared that she has been married to a family in Mumbai. Anyway this soft voiced mother danced on Boogie Woogie’s favorite song “Kaahe ched ched”. She was beautifully dressed up that complimented the song that she choose. Harpreet’s performance was soothing to watch and she dance gracefully. Her after performance talk was very sweet and speaks a lot on her upbringing, her in laws and the love and respect between the couple. The love between the daughter in law and mother in law was amazing and this is what I am talking people - this is real India! In real India, you don’t find mother’s in law and daughter’s in law fighting and conspiring against each other but loving and respecting each other. I have seen the same in my family and in my friends and relatives families so its important that all those glycerin serials that set wrong examples must be trashed! It was one of the warmest and heart touching after performance talk. The other best thing of this mother is she is well prepared and possess a beautiful talent of speaking good words. When she speaks, it touches your heart. I firmly believe that when we speak about someone, we must speak good and if we can’t speak good then we have no right to speak ill too. And this mother sets a perfect example. Awesome Harpreet!

Clippings from Ahmedabad Auditions were shown and after that the next mother to perform was 34 year old Sonal Patel who came in from Vadodara. Sonal danced on song “yaar aaya” something like that. I was hearing the song for the first time and the video quality my end was pretty hazy so I really could not hear it properly but as far as Sonal’s dance is concerned, she was great. She did some somersaults, disco and also used props. She also used the stage well. The way she ended her performance was fantastic especially when she did a split! The after performance talk was again interesting and funny.

The next mummy to perform was a 47 year old Renu C.S Rana who came in from Mumbai. This mummy danced on song “Aao na gale lagao na” song a famous evergreen Asha Bhosle song. She was dressed with her song theme and wore a golden gown with the feathered scarf. Her dance will bring a big smile on your face and will also want to make you want to whistle. Watch her moves and you can say that she definitely was enjoying performing on the stage. She looked engrossed. She also used the stage well. She also managed to get all of the audience not just enjoy her performance but also clap, whistle and scream. The after performance talk is something you shouldn’t miss as well. It was one of the most hilarious after performance talk I have ever seen. It sure was sweet and interesting as well. Watch her dance with her husband on Boogie Woogie stage and pay attention to her husband. It was one of the cutest dance I have enjoyed in long long time. Also another thing that is must watch are the judges – they not only enjoyed talking to the couple but were almost rolling with laughter ;) The couple got standing ovation from the judges. Renu also sang a song “chand phir nikala” and did a wonderful job with her singing.

The next mother to perform was Sabah Bari who came in from Dubai and who is 30 year old. This mummy was dressed up beautifully and danced on song “Raat ka Sama” and she did a fantastic job. I have enjoyed her performance thoroughly as she turned out to be a great dancer. Watch her expressions, her steps that she took – they was very graceful and she adds her own charm to her performance. She sure looks like she learnt dance. She also looked engrossed in her performance which predicted that she enjoys what she does. After performance talk was as usual fabulous. It was great to learn that Saba travelled all the way from Dubai for Boogie Woogie auditions. She also did stage shows and sang a song “Tujhse naraaz nahi zindangi” from movie Masoom. She sure has a very sweet voice and sang very well.

The next mother to perform was 33 year old Kavita Sharma who came in from Rohtak, Haryana. She danced on song “Dhiktana” from movie Om Shanti Om. She wore a golden and red color classical dance costume. She also danced energetically and gave wonderful smile and expressions. Her smile accompanied her throughout the performance and definitely added lots of charm. The after performance talk was funny, interesting and sweet. Mother in law spoke very well and the love within the family was amazing. It feels so great to see solid families with good foundation. Definitely makes you feel proud of not only your country but also the culture and tradition. Superb! The couple danced together on the show and did fabulous bhangra. The sync between the couple was amazing.

The last mother to perform on Saturday night last week was Impal Kadhi who also came in from Mumbai and is 36 year old. She danced beautifully and elegantly. She put in some fast and neat steps. I really loved her dance. The touching moment was that she had lost her father in law just few days before the show. It was an emotional moment. Our condolences on behalf of this blog and all its members and visitors to entire Kadhi family. God bless your family Impal and may he give you and entire family enough strength to overcome this tough time!

After the flash back, results were announced and there were 6 mummy’s who qualified for next round. They were:

Sayli Desai
Avatar Kaur Randhawa
Krupa Nayan Joshi
Saba Bari
Harpreet Kaur
Sonea Dias

Congratulations Mummy’s and All the Very Best for the Future Rounds!!

mommy They say “First Impression” is very important for anything as it marks a beginning of a new chapter and so Mummy’s Championships started with a bang! We couldn’t have asked for a better start then the way Mummy’s Championships 2009 started - with a very warm and heart touching message on mothers and their importance in this world. The language that was used and the way it was narrated …. Bravo!! and Jaaved Jaafferi’s voice in the background… Fantabulously Mind Blowing!!

They say “The mother loves her child most divinely, not when she surrounds him with comfort and anticipates his wants, but when she resolutely holds him to the highest standards and is content with nothing less then his best.” And for this a mother goes through a lot in her life as she makes her children her oxygen to breathe – she cannot think anything without them and for her, her entire world revolves just around her family!

proud-mommy If I have to choose ONE event from the innumerous themes and championships that Boogie Woogie has come up in past 13 years to honor them with the prestigious award then it will definitely be “Mothers Championships”! Many shows are there but no one thought of doing something in return for the mothers. Nobody ever thought of introducing or giving mothers a chance to showcase their hidden talent in front of their world or even provide a platform where mothers could just come out from the usual routine and do something for themselves. Boogie Woogie did and I absolutely salute them for honoring mothers!

And when I was just thinking it was a perfect start, it takes Boogie Woogie’s Mummy’s Championships to another high. What we see is Ravi and Naved dancing on song “Welcome” and it was totally adorable. It was also adorable the way mummy’s were shown entering studios in cars, bike, auto rickshaw and others. Both Ravi and Naved sang the song “Welcome” with all words written on mothers and Boogie Woogie. Great Job indeed!! News - Mummy’s Championships has a new sponsor – Idea!

Out of many thousands that came for auditions, 47 were selected. (Mummys of this blog are you reading this? Don’t worry it will be your turn soon. Keep your spirits up as your toli rocks ;)   )

The first mother to open the Mummy’s Championships was Sonea Dias who came in from Delhi and who is 36 year old. She reminded me of Hard Kaur and maybe because her face resembles a little bit but she danced on song “Aye Hip Hopper mujhe pyar toh kar” and watch this mom…. she sure brings in a big smile on your face. She had her own style which was really cute and entertaining and had her own grace. The after performance talk brought couple of surprises and one was that her husband is a choreographer, two – she already performed on Boogie Woogie stage 13 years ago. I really liked the argument between Jaaved Jaafery and Sonea regarding marriage and I loved Sonea’s jokes and definitely think she is at par with Ravi and Naved when it comes to jokes ;) Another neat thing that I observed was behind the stage talk from the participants and so we saw Sonea speak. It was like a new Boogie Woogie altogether!

Clippings of Delhi Auditions were shown and it was interesting to see many mummys lined up filling the form. Did we see any Delhi mummys from this blog here?

The next mother to perform was Krupa Nayan Joshi who came in from Ahmedabad and who is 31 year old. She danced on song “rang le mujhko apne rang mein – jogan jogan” She threw in some catchy steps and gave a entertaining performance. Now mothers do watch the performers - so far they started their faster and catchy steps within 10 seconds of the start time and the performances were less then 2 minutes short. Something definitely to keep on mind for next time’s auditions! The after performance talk was very interesting and she also danced with her husband and she was extremely happy performing on Boogie Woogie stage. The after performance talk was hilarious as usual. The couple showered love on one another and also danced on Boogie Woogie stage.

The next mother to perform was Sayli Desai from Mumbai who is only 30 years old and who came in from Mumbai – the home town of Boogie Woogie. She danced on song Apalam chapalam. She also wore a classical costume and gave a good performance. She also used the front of the stage well and her expressions came with a sweet smile on her face. The after performance talk was interesting and funny. She spoke very well of her husband and it is awesome to meet her supporting husband. Really good! Her entire family had come to support and encourage her.

The next mother to perform was Kum Kum Gupta who is 58 years old and who came in from Aligarh. Boogie Woogie – NOW we are talking…finally a mommy who is above 40 performed ;) The pre performance talk was very sweet and sure should bring a smile on your face. Kum Kum danced on song “piya lage na mora jeeya”. She was very graceful in her performance and doesn’t look 58 from any angle. She wore an interesting costume and all of her steps and expressions makes you stand and applaud. A very well put performance. Naved sure was enjoying her performance a lot and was clapping and encouraging. It surely would be great to see Kum Kum in lot more episodes or better till the finals ;) Maybe if Boogie Woogie and Sony had advertised clearly on TV inviting mothers over 40 for auditions, we surely would have seen many mothers in this age category but as usual when it comes to communications especially with the common man, they simply suck and this is one thing they need to improve - COMMUNICATIONS!! But lets forget and watch Kum Kum mesmerize and also watch Naved whistle during her performance. It sure was the sweetest performance of the evening. The after performance talk was hilarious, sweet, cute and heart touchingly warm.

The last mother on Friday night to take Mummy’s Championships episode 1 forward was 40 year old Avatar Kaur Randhawa who came in from Mumbai. She spoke very well during her pre performance talk. Avatar performed a punjabi dance and threw in a very energetic, entertaining and beautiful performance. I thoroughly enjoyed her performance. She danced on a Punjabi folk song. Watch her expressions, hands and feet movements, very well done. She also wore a beautiful colorful salwar kameez to compliment her dance. The after performance talk was as expected heart warming, cute, funny and interesting. It was Avatar’s birthday and it was lovely to see the judges celebrate Avatar’s birthday on Boogie Woogie stage. Judges – you guys make me feel so PROUD!! Keep it up!!
