This week in Boogie Woogie’s Himmat ki Kheemat, they had comedy round and the guest who joined the judges was Suresh Menon. After a joke from Suresh Menon, the show started and the first group to perform was from Pune “Challenger Dance Group”.
Challenger Dance Group danced on a south Indian song and had all male dancers with one dancer dressed up as female and was the lead dancer. It was a entertaining performance but I felt the main dancer who was dressed up as female put in very few female steps and more of male steps and probably if that wasn’t the case, it would have sounded and looked better. Most of the comedy in India especially when males are dressed in female attire, give out a little cheaper feel to it. I think it would be great to see some male dancers really dance and act like a sober female and I surely think it would add some charm to the performance. For comedy sake, comedy doesn’t have to be loud. It can be sober and still carry its humor. Just my thought but a performance well done! The after performance talk was hilarious, funny and also touching. The people from real India has their own touch and so did this group. Have you noticed one thing, when people talk from their heart, it straight reaches our heart and so you will like the after performance communication and will pray for the best for the entire group to do well in their life.
The second group to perform was Walk and Roll Group and the pre performance talk makes you feel proud of the guy who is running this group. It was told that the “Walk and Roll group” was initially started by his dance teacher who unfortunately after hurting himself couldn’t continue with dancing and his student promised to take this group further and continued with the dance classes. This I think is massive and I am very proud of the teacher and student. Thats whats up Man!! But lets come back to the performance. I felt both good and bad about this performance. Let’s start from bad first. According to me I think the groups and individuals performing a comedy act MUST stay away from religious topics or dressing up the character in a religious attire - Period! You see India is a vast country of many beliefs and faiths and there are many people who would take comedy in comedy sense but then there are people who would be offended too. Its always better to take precaution and keep in mind if any group would be offended or not. Why choose a character that might create unnecessary arguments? I think its always better to choose an act that stays neutral and far from religious topics. By doing so we will avoid unnecessary arguments and also will not put judges in an awkward position since their every action is observed closely. Any compliment or comment they make might land them either in good books or in big mess by fanatic groups. Plus the performance to me, it sounded pretty confusing. I really could not make out the different twists and turns off it. But the good thing is that, all the dancers were fabulous dancers and threw in some good steps. Dance was superb but the theme was not. After performance talk was hilarious and I think Suresh Menon was mind blowing. Don’t miss out his dance. He was absolutely adorable.
The next group to perform was Blood Stone Group from Mumbai. This group danced on kya lagti hai and bachna aye hasino and also its magic song medley. A very entertaining performance. The theme was on wooing. The end part of the performance was hilarious. The after performance talk was funny too. Suresh Menon talks to the participants in Kanada. One of the participant desired to shake hands with the judges but was told, since they meet them personally on stage so instead of shaking hands, asked the entire group to give a flying kiss to the judges. But I do hope she could meet them personally for a hand shake after the show at least. My two cents? The girl participant said her dream was just fulfilled as she got a chance to perform on Boogie Woogie stage so why not fulfill her dream to the fullest instead of leaving at 95%? Let’s hope Boogie Woogie will not refuse such sweet gestures next time!
The next group to perform was Masti Makers Dance Group who came in from Pali Madwad, Rajasthan. Now this is one performance you must NOT miss!! This was the best performance of Friday night and I was just amazed by their body colors and the theme they came up with. It was absolutely fantastic. This group from Rajasthan danced to a Telugu song called “aa ante anthapuram”. They painted face on their body and covered their heads with a cap, their stomach was projected as the head and it was one neat performance that I have seen in long time. They looked perfect puppets and it was the highlight of the show. Must Watch!! The after performance talk is again something that you must not miss especially the hasiya kavita - it was fabulous. The group is very talented and came with something new and different in a brilliant way. You can easily call this performance “paisa wasool”! God bless them!
The last group to perform on Friday night was Bappa Exel Group from Mumbai, the same group who had performed during Diwali times. They danced to song “ayiyaiya suku suku” but had changed entire wordings sayin “susu susu”. The theme was based on school kids and their little accidents dealing with nature calls. It was well enjoyed performance. After performance talk was entertaining as well.
Last but definitely not least, Javed and Suresh communicated or rather pretended talking in Kanada and the show ended here with Suresh counting 1, 2, 3 in Kanada. Good Night Folks!
