March 13th – Review of Naache Taare Zameen Par Grand Finale

fireworks1 Boogie Woogie’s Naache Taare Zameen Par started their Grand Finale with a bang! I loved the Grand Finale but there were couple of things which bothered me but let’s talk about the good stuff first.

Boogie Woogie had a Grand Finale the way a Grand Finale is suppose to be. All the finalist were seen dancing on song “Aa dekhe zara kis mein kitna hai dum” and Boo dancers joined them on the stage too. The stage was decorated beautifully with balloons and the lighting was amazing. It all looked grand. Bravo!! Javed joined the stage and was followed by Ravi and Naved and there was another surprise at this grand finale – dhol, qawali and on top of all, judges singing. It was superb. I really liked the way they introduced the contestants in song. A job very well done! As we know all three judges have great voices and so the singing act was greatly appreciated. I give the singing part all 5 stars.

Shivalika Dhait was introduced to perform first on this grand finale and she danced on song “mohe panghat pe” from movie Mughul e Azam”. She danced beautifully for her age. She performed what she is best in – Kathak. A lot of steps were flawless but what was missing was the grace. She gave expressions well but since she is too young to understand the meaning of the words in the song that require adult expressions, her performance came in just as how a kids performance is suppose to be. It’s good and it’s bad. But overall it was a well enjoyed performance. After performance talk is always more then the expectations and she brings a smile and many praises with her narration. I definitely use to wait to listen to her and I surely will be missing her. Javed gave her good compliments and wished that she continues her talent even after the competitions are over.

madhur mittal Okay now a clipping was shown from 12 years back where a participant had competed in Boogie Woogie and had won the competitions. He had danced as Michael Jackson and that kid is Madhur Mittal. Madhur Mittal also was in film “Slumdog Millionare”. He danced on song “Jai Ho” along with Boo dancers tonight. They say right - once a dancer always a dancer. You could see his talent wide and clear. He danced fabulously and flawlessly. It was one smashing performance but this is not all – he was then joined by Longines Fernandes and the fun had just begun. We see another down to earth humble guy in form of a fabulous choreographer and he dances on his choreographed number from Slumdog Millionare “Jai Ho” along with Madhur Mittal. Watch it! It definitely was the highlight!

At this point we see Qawals singing and Naved joins them and sings “Haal kya hai dilo ka” and introduces Rashmi Kunder next on stage to perform.

IN013L Rashmi Kunder – what should I tell you about her? She is one wonder who has given constant brilliant performances from the time she joined. And her grand finale performance was the best in her journey. Absolutely enchanting! Her each and every move was awesome and when she turns around and dances with the face mask on back of her head, it was perfect. She danced on medley’s and I think the highlight of her dance was when she spins and rotates and turns around. It was just superb. She gave her best till date. And if she wins the show, she would be very well deserved! But the only thing that bothered me was the AV of her mother speaking about why Rashmi needs to win this competition and the reason that she gave was because they don’t have money. Now I definitely have couple of things to talk here.

First – why was there such an AV on Boogie Woogie? As far as I followed the show, I know that Boogie Woogie keeps themselves far from all the dramas that are found on every tom dick and harry’s show. Boogie Woogie is far above from any of the other shows and MUST maintain the old system. Let the rona dhona be part of other shows not this show! But then maybe its okay to show such AV’s during grand finale to show it to the world what families go through. But I personally prefer a clean show!

goodhabitsbadhabits Secondly – If a person speaks that one has to win the competition because they don’t have money on camera then just imagine the pressure on the poor kid? Maybe its possible that she is being told that she must win this competition and must perform well. Is this fair for an 8 or 9 year old? I think the exposure that these kids are getting is itself more then enough plus these kids have to go through many challenges of dancing and performing outside their comfort level. Any additional pressure is definitely not good for the kid. It is definitely amazing that apart from all this pressures, Rashmi still managed to give flawless performances in each and every episode. Now that’s what’s up! If she wins, she will definitely deserve it.

Third - Why was Rs. 25000/- required to come down to participate in Boogie Woogie from Mangalore? My sister directs many shows in South India and her company provides boarding and lodging for the participants that come from all over the country so is it different in Mumbai? Anyway let’s move on!!

Okay now it was the time for Javed to sing Jhoom barabar jhoom sharabi and in that qawali he introduced little Vaishnavi Patil. Here was another surprise guest who came in to support Vaishnavi. Gul Panang! Gul is a very talented actress and is one of my favorite but then she also acts eccentric at times especially speaking at wrong occasions few months ago anyway that doesn’t take away her talent and beauty – she is absolutely gorgeous and I always wished she to be the top Bollywood actress so hope she achieves that spot soon!

nocrying Vaishnavi is another power packed talent ki pudiya that never disappoints you in any of her performances. Her each performance was better then the previous one and the grand finale performance, she gave her best. I can very well speak from my heart here and I definitely think Vaishnavi’s performance tonight was the best so far in the grand finale. This little girl is just flawless. She is superb. She is beyond any words of praises. She danced on a semi classical number though I don’t know the title of the song but the words were something like “Chanda sitare jaisa koi chaman”. Now I am not going to exaggerate but I watched her performance almost without blinking my eyes. Watch it don’t miss it!! It was one thunderous performance. Superb Vaishnavi – keep it up girl!! You are already the champion!! After performance was again interesting – something that I personally didn’t like! Again an AV was shown with same old rona dhona and talking about past. Were the parents given some emotional tablets that they all cried on this last day?? Come on parents, set a good example!! Vaishnavi’s aunt spoke how when Vaishnavi was 2 years old and she got fits and was in a condition where doctors had said she will not survive. But the thing is that she survived and by God’s grace is hale and hearty so why cry now? If the same thing she had said without crying and proudly I would have praised her like nobody’s business. But crying – no I can’t! Well my mother brought me up in a positive way. She always says, don’t look at your past and make yourself sad. What happened is over, what you have now and what you want tomorrow is important. If you keep looking at past and keep cribbing and crying, you are going to spoil your present and future. Be brave and face any challenge with a smile!! Be ALWAYS THANKFUL TO GOD!!

And anyway, her parents started to cry after watching the AV then Vaishnavi started crying too. It was all a sob sob moment at Boogie Woogie. I want to say little more but let me give out the details of our next participant.

This time it was time for Ravi to join the qawali group and he introduced Sanoy Dev in his qawali.

Sanoy Dev danced awesome on song “nakhre nakhre”. Please forgive me, I really did not know many of the title’s of the songs that were played in today’s episode. Will try to research and update later if I find the right results or you can always correct me. Well Sanoy’s performance was good and he did a good job. He threw in a energetic performance and it was very well enjoyed. His after performance talk was very cute especially when he does a Shakti Kapoor. He is too adorable and I do hope he does wonders when he grows up. Again an AV was shown at this point where his mother cried remembering her older son whom she lost. Now maybe I will be the most hated person tonight for writing against the crying stories but you see I have my own reasons to behave this way.

booimg The reason why I am a huge fan of Boogie Woogie and its judges is because of their humility and humbleness. They set a perfect example day after day all the time. You see when we come across guests that started their careers with Boogie Woogie and are doing extremely well and have made themselves to be something, we are awe with praises so just imagine how big these awesome guys are (Ravi, Javed, Naved) yet they maintain their humbleness and never show off. There is a lot everyone can learn from these gentlemen; they are an institution in themselves. So it’s my humble request to all parents, “please don’t cry in front of my favorite judges – go and create a brave example. Be proud for the day that you are seeing in life. Don’t look back. Yesterday was gone – today is what we have and thinking about yesterday, please don’t spoil your tomorrow. Disown tears on shows especially on Boogie Woogie. Face all your fears and sadness with a smile and humor!! Everyone has their problems, I don’t think there is a single human soul without sadness or problems, but we need to prove we are way above this little challenges that life brings, we can very well face them with and emerge winners. Winning or loosing on a show is not all – participating is all. Your kid is doing that many millions of kids didn’t get a chance to do. So be proud and show that proud with humbleness and smiles when you are on camera. Keep the tears for another time. All the Best to you and to your kids! May they flourish your good name in the world and become super heroes of tomorrow!

Well Friday night’s Grand Finale ended on a fabulous performance by Longi on “Pappu can’t dance saala”. And I must say this – I was highly impressed by Longi’s attitude. Bravo Longi!!

I give this Grand Finale 4 stars and taking away one star just because of the rona dhona ;)
