CatLaugh It’s been sometime that we read jokes on the blog. After listening to some cool jokes during the last episode of Boogie Woogie, it reminded me that we need to publish some jokes too. They say right - laugh is the best medicine of all times and so with the same thought we too bring you jokes that are stolen from various sources. Hope you enjoy reading them!!

The psychology instructor had just finished a lecture on mental health and was giving an oral test.
Speaking specifically about manic depression, she asked, “How would you diagnose a patient who walks back and forth screaming at the top of his lungs one minute, then sits in a chair weeping uncontrollably the next?”
A young man in the rear raised his hand and answered, “A basketball coach?”

Andy: “Doc, I had the worst dream of my life last night. I dreamed I was with twelve of the most beautiful chorus girls in the world. Blondes, brunettes, redheads, all dancing in a row.”
Doctor: “Hold it, Andy. That doesn’t sound so terrible.”
Andy: Oh yeah? In the dream, I was the third girl from the end.”

How do they dance in Arabia?
Sheik-to-sheik (cheek).

An avid line dancing couple go to the doctor for a check up because they are having trouble remembering anything but, all the latest line dances. The doctor finds them in excellent health (of course), but suggests that writing things down may help their memories off the dance floor. That night the husband gets up to go the kitchen and the wife asks for a dish of ice cream, suggesting that maybe he writes it down. He says “I don’t need to write it down” She says “Well I want Strawberries on it, so maybe you better write it down” “I don’t need to write it down” He says and walks off in a huff. Twenty minutes later he comes back with a plate of eggs and hash browns. “I told you to write it down” she says, “You forgot my toast”.

Have a Happy Day Folks and do remember your stuff ;)

helpful tips Last before week on Boogie Woogie, Ravi pointed out a very valuable tip that should be saved and sealed for all audition aspirants.

One group in Himmat ki Kheemat had sent in their VCD and were selected based on that audition video but it seemed that they changed their dancers and song when they came in to perform on the Boogie Woogie stage. That backfired on the group and maybe it resulted in fetching the group with negative points. Why? Please read below.

Ravi Behl talked about how Boogie Woogie selects their candidates for the show. He said; when they view the VCD and like a particular performance, they send out the invite. They then expect the participant or group of participants to perform on the same song that got them selected. Any change in song or dancers may result in disqualification or getting them negative points.

Auditions In simple words, when you send out your VCD to Boogie Woogie, note down your song selection because that is the same song you will need to perform if you are invited for the show. And in case it’s a group performance then make sure not to change or replace any dancers from your group. Once the VCD goes in, you selection of song and dancers stays sealed.

With so many millions of dancers wanting to perform on Boogie Woogie show, if you get a call from them, please be careful and not do any mistake that will ruin the chances of performing on the prestigious stage. If there is really a genuine and huge problem, do discuss with them with enough time on hand. I am sure they will be willing to hear you out and cooperate but it’s always better to be safe then sorry friends. So please avoid any last minute changes.

Have a Wonderful Day!!

Okay dhol was back on Saturday night and Ravi and Naved both were in their usual good mood. It was energetic start that catches your mood instantly. 5 groups had participated last night and Saturday night it was time for the remaining five pairs to perform.

The first pair to perform was Shingo Sarkar and Juli Sarkar. Both Shingo and Juli danced on one of my favorite song "Bang bang bang" from movie Hello. And what energies and coordination between both the kids. It was one awesome performance. The entire stage was like it was on fire. Very well performed and it was simply beautiful. The after performance was interesting and adorable. On the whole - don’t miss it!!

Doesn’t it sound festive with the dhol in house? It adds so much of spice to the show. Love it!! Jokes season continued from yesterday that was by audience and they did come with some of the best PJ’s and so the prizes in return came to match the PJ’s. Watch it, it will surely make you laugh!

The next participants to perform were Swati Nayak and Truptimayee Das. They both danced on song "intezaar intezaar". Both the girls were dressed up beautifully and their outfits matched their performance. They danced well and it was soothing to watch. The after performance talk was pretty interesting.

The next performance was from Dhvanli Vaishnav and Priyank Agarwal. They came from Baroda. Both the guys danced on "neeche phoolo ki dukaan upar gori ka makaan" song. They did a wonderful job in comedy. It was hilarious performance specially their expressions. After performance talk was fun especially when Dhvanli played the dhol. He is a talented kid and played the dhol very well. Keep it up!!

After the boys, it was turn of Shivani Nagavekar and Shubham Nagavekar to show their talent. They both came from Sangili. Both the kids were dressed up adorably and Shivani you should watch her during the AV, she sounds shy but in the dance she gave confident expressions. Both brother and sister danced on Marathi folk song and did a good job. Shubham did Nana Patekar’s mimicry and surprised me with his dialogue selection.

The last participants to perform on Saturday night were Kanan Chokshi and Shimoli Shah who came in from Baroda. They danced on song "Mast". Both the girls danced beautifully. In simple words if people like me and you watch, they will be blown away with the performance as it sound nothing but perfect but here is the thing -  listen to Jaaved, he tells you what was missing from this beautifully put performance and he explains it so well. And so my friends that is what makes the difference between a show that is the father mother and grand parents of all shows and a show is just a bad copycat. We do need to have the audio clip of of this advice for our archive.

After the flash back, the results were announced and the winner pair to walk away with all the fabulous prizes were Ashwin Chaterjee and Sonia Chakraborty. Congratulations and Keep it Up!!

Don’t forget the watch the ending after the results folks - it was hilarious!! :D

Have a goodnight and have a fabulous Monday!  ;)

First its spelled Kheemat not Keemat.. lol

Okay this week Boogie Woogie had even more exciting prizes and I really want that car and bike so that I can be a kid again ;) This week it was kids special in pairs to show the himmat to get some kheemat and so we saw some amazing performances.

Friday night episodes USP is judging. You know there were performances that to us will sound awesome but the technicalities and off rhythm that was pointed out by the judges is THE reason to watch Friday’s episode. We sure will be able to learn how to appreciate dance better. I think if it wasn’t for the explanation or pointing out of faults, I would surely write each and every performance as mind blowing because to me it sounded like that. But with due respect to the judges, I learnt how to observe a performance better and it sure will help me for the next time. I don’t think Boogie Woogie ever came with less then top notch performances ever and so they again match upto your expectations. Honestly, I was watching another dance program and once Boogie Woogie started at 8pm, I switched on to Boogie Woogie and could instantly make out the difference between the quality of dance performances and other shows. Watch it, it was mind blowing, hilarious, superb and everyone right from audiences to participants to judges, they did fantastic job!!

The show started off with Ravi and Naved’s jokes and I must say I really enjoyed them. They were awesome and I heard it for the first time so it sounded more funny. The jokes that came from audiences were superb too. The prizes that were given to audiences plus the jokes will surely chuckle you.

The first pair of participants that performed was Adya Aprita Devi and Tejaswani Behera both came from Rourkela and danced on song "Daiya daiya diaya re". The last split that one of the participant did in the end was fantastic. I can say one thing that even though the judges said they went off beat but they surely danced better then the original dancer with plastic face. In compare to hers, both the girls were fantastic!!  And…… I am sure in for some bashing … lol

The next pair that came in to perform was "Shreya Modi and Jhanvi Patel" from Baroda. Both the girls danced on song "Khalaas". They both danced very well and I really loved their performance. Just two things I want to correct. One of the participant said if she wins the show then her parents will be proud of her so I would like to say, they participating in Boogie Woogie itself should make their parents proud not their winning. Parents are always proud of their kids no matter what!! The second thing I want to say is I really loved when one of the girl said if she wins, she will give the bike to her brother as gift. Now thats whats up!! coming back to their performance, watch it - you will surely enjoy. It was fast paced energetic number.

The next to perform was "Ashwin Chatterjee and Sonia Chakraborty" from Jamshedpur. They both danced on song "prem jaal mein phas gayi" and did a awesome job. Their performance was very well enjoyed and and makes you smile. Their expressions and the steps were fabulous. The after performance talk was hilarious and I don’t know how many will agree with me but I really liked Sonia’s way of speaking. Soft and mannered. Grandfather was awesome dancing and so was grandmother. Totally Enjoyed!!

Now was the time for Kinjal Ranawat and Manvi Rathod to dance. Both the girls were from Mumbai and danced on medleys. Now again I think its important kids know that parents do feel proud all the time. Its not that they will be proud only if their kids win so please take this out from your mind. Such things can build a wrong impression on life especially when things don’t go well later in life. Whether one wins or not, parents and your audience will always be proud of you for attempting. so Keep It Up!! Coming back to the dance performance, it was well enjoyed performance. Judges did say they went off rhythm and that must be corrected. On the whole a well put performance.

The last performance of the evening was the best performance of the evening from audience point of view and as well as judges point of view. Rajesh Kumar Sahoo and Bhupendra Bhal. They both came from Bhubaneshwar. Listen to their pre performance talk - it was cute. They danced on song "Mauja mauja" and gave a breathtaking performance. Every stunt, every step was fantastic. It definitely goes in Boogie Woogie’s one of the finest performances. They put some comedy in between and it was hilarious. I think we surely need to see more of these kids and hope they come back on Boogie Woogie with some more mind blowing performances. The compliments that they got from the judges makes them stand on top of the list and if in Saturday’s episode no one comes in compare at par with their performance, they surely will be the winners. Let’s wait for the results but a Must Watch!! Go to Apni Community or India Forums to watch the video. Its the last video there ;)

With this the Friday night episode ended but before that there were couple of more jokes. Enjoy!!

See you later with Saturday episode - Have a fabulous Saturday!! :D

ugadi festivalI was very fascinated when I learned for the first time how these festivals are celebrated and the significance behind the celebrations. I was all WOW and so today I thought it would be just wonderful to share the concept and the recipe to wish my friends a beautiful life!

It is told that in states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, Ugadi is celebrated by eating Ugadi Pachidi. Ugadi Pachidi is made with Neem buds/ flowers, raw mango, tamarind juice, green chilli/ pepper, jaggery and salt.
Neem represents bitterness, mango represents tang, tamarind is for sourness, green chilli and pepper is for heat, jaggery is for sweetness and salt is for saltiness. The mixture of these six tastes symbolizes the fact that life is a mixture of different experiences (sadness, happiness, anger, fear, disgust, surprise) and these should be accepted together and with equanimity.

It is such a beautiful thought! It sure makes one feel real proud.

And so friends, enjoy this beautiful festival and keep your awesome spirits always up!!

Anyone interested in making this Pacchidi, here’s your recipe – Enjoy!!

Tamarind extract – 250 ml
Neem flowers - 5 gms
Raw mango - 50 gms
Coconut kernel - 50 gms
Sugarcane - 100 gms
Grapes - 10-12
Banana - 1/2
Salt to taste
Chilli powder - a pinch
Jaggery - 250 gms

Method: Soak tamarind in warm water and make a thick extract. Keep it aside. Pluck the neem flowers and keep it aside. Cut raw mango, coconut kernel, sugarcane, grapes and banana into dices. Grate the jaggery. Mix jaggery and tamarind extract and make a paste, then add all the other ingredients and form a paste.

49-1 Today I would like to talk about a topic that should be the hot topic in present times. If you feel likewise or unlike wise, feel free to use your freedom of speech.

Past weekend Jaaved Jaaffery brought up a very valid point when he told to a group that he will not thank a particular region only because they were coming from that area as for Boogie Woogie all regions belong to ONE India and should be treated equally. By demarcating any one group or giving special attention, their will be difference in treatment towards the other groups. He emphasized that people coming from all areas should be treated as just Indians and should not talk only about their regions. I thought that was really awesome!! Honestly a lot of times I use to wonder, why people support only a candidate that belong to their own region or even while making a vote appeal they ask their own regions to vote, why don’t they appeal to entire India? I am so glad that Jaaved feels so strong about it. One more feather that now I can add to my fanship towards these great guys. I am so proud of them!

diversity We see in reality shows that contestants come from different regions. It’s really great to see that there is so much of talent in every part of India. Television plays a big role in bringing the talent out and in presenting it to the world. I think it’s the second best thing that has been invented by man. But when it comes to public voting, it’s always disappointing. Now thankfully Boogie Woogie is different and has no public voting. But all other shows that have public voting go through a lot of mess. Don’t worry today I am not bashing up any television channels but will be talking about PUBLIC and public voting mentality.

voting_booth In difficult times, we see everyone is pretty patriotic and speak words of unity and togetherness but then as soon as the condition settles down, we are back to ourselves supporting our own candidates and showing favors and being biased. Why can’t we be the same all the time? Why is it that when we see a candidate from our own region or religion or caste or language, only then we get interested in that show or else it gets boring? Why do we spend money on SMS only because that person belongs to our area? There are others who have worked equally hard, why don’t we try to see their talent fairly?

quit-face India is a vast country with many states, dialects, religions, caste, creed and many more. Even though it’s diverse, it is ONE country. Unity in diversity is MUST at all times and must be maintained throughout fairly. But it’s an utter shame that we only look out for ourselves. We only talk big but when it comes to our actions we are nothing but shame! We form lines outside SMS booths just to make sure we spend our entire income so that there is no scarcity of votes for the kid who went to participate from our region. Why? agar haara toh region ki naak kat jaayegi?? It boils to that point where deserving or not deserving does not even matter; representing our region is more then enough of criteria that one should WIN the competitions and so we end up going out of our way to make sure he or she is promoted well. I think we are nothing but hypocrites.

unity Change is not brought only by the governments or the police or military. We need to change our outlook, our mentality and start seeing all Indians as Indians instead of East, West, North or South Indians. All the crap that goes in supporting a person belonging to our region or caste or creed is nothing but unfair. The day we stop this crap, India will progress in real sense!

It’s time India – wake up!! Wake up to the need of the nation and wake up to help the government progress. indiaIt’s time we really become one and look outside of our shells. Let us look at all our fellow citizens as same and not be biased towards our own groups. Let us not leave ourselves vulnerable enough that the outsiders get a chance to divide and rule. Let us show our strength in togetherness and treat each other fairly. Let us give the chance to the really deserving without thinking which part of India this person belongs to. For us, just the fact that “He” or “She” deserves, possess real talent and belongs to OUR country should be more then enough reason to support! It is time to be FAIR! Be a fair INDIAN!!

“We may have different religions, different languages, castes and skins, but we all belong to one human race and one INDIA”!!

tango Today in our knowledge segment, let’s learn about a fun dance called “Tango”!

Tango originated first from Argentina, Buenos Aires, Montevideo and Uruguay. It is a very popular form of dance and is getting lot more popular in the Indian sub continent especially for dance competitions.

History of Tango: Tango was known as Tango Criollo or just Tango. They say that Tango has African influence. It originated in lower class districts of Buenos Aires. It was in 1890’s that it started to get popular and started spreading rapidly to other parts. In the early years of the twentieth century, dancers and orchestras from Buenos Aires traveled to Europe and the first European tango craze took place in Paris. It soon spread to other places such as London, Berlin. Around 1913, it reached New York and Finland.

TangoCouple In the USA the name Tango was often applied to dances in a 2/4 or 4/4 rhythm such as the one-step. The term was fashionable and did not indicate that tango steps would be used in the dance, although they might be. It had its lows and highs during the great depression but it soon emerged back in 1983.

Dancers like Miguel Angel Zotto and Milena Plebs, made it more popular when they formed a “Tango X 2” company. That created a style that recovered the traditional tango of the milongas, renewed it and placed it as central element in its creations doing an archeological search of diverse styles of the tango.

Tango Styles: The Tango consists of a variety of styles either open embrace, where lead and follow have space between their bodies, or close embrace, where the lead and follow connect either chest to chest or in the upper thigh, hip area. Some of the Tango styles are:

  • Tango Argentino
  • Tango Oriental
  • Tango Canyengue
  • Tango Liso
  • Tango Salon
  • Tango Orillero
  • Tango Milonguero
  • Tango Nuevo
  • Show Tango
  • Ballroom Tango
  • Finnish Tango

Tango is played with several types of music such as Tango, Vals, Milongo, Tango Electronico and Alternative Tango.

How to dance Tango:

The easiest way to remember the basic tango dance step is to think of the acronym T-A-N-G-O, since there are five parts to the basic. At the same time, the steps have a rhythm and duration that goes as follows: “Slow…slow…quick-quick-slow…”

Like many ballroom dances, the lead and follow mirror each others steps in the basic. Many of the more complicated tango dance steps give each part their own specific roles to play. The lead also always begins with the left foot, the follow with the right, and the lead steps are “heel leads” – that is, the heel of the foot comes down first, not the toe.

  1. T (slow): the lead steps forward with the left foot, the follow mirrors by stepping back with the right.
  2. A (slow): the lead steps forward with the right foot, mirrored again by the follow’s right.
  3. N (quick): the lead steps forward again with the left, a slightly smaller step, preparing to step to the side with the right.
  4. G (quick): the lead steps to the right with the right foot, using a technique known as “collecting” the foot. This simply means that the right foot comes up alongside the left before stepping to the right, and doesn’t move in the diagonal.
  5. O (slow): probably the most sultry step in the basic, this is a slow almost-drag of the left foot towards the right, ready to begin the basic again. For the follow, it’s the joining of the right foot to the left with a slow, deliberate motion.

Below is a beautiful video of Tango dance that one can watch and learn from:

If anyone is willing to share some information on this particular dance, please feel free to write to us at sansuiboogiewoogie@gmail.com

shocked Today I was shocked to learn that one of the reality show participant from another show attempted a suicide due to her failing career and some other reasons. We wish her well and hope she gets back on life and take life’s challenges positively. Ending life is never a solution nor courageous. I am happy that she survived the attempt and we wish her nothing but the best in her life!

Though I am saddened by her move but I would like to talk about Reality shows and what its exposure can do to people. We are lucky that Boogie Woogie is a clean show that does not come with any dirt but one still has to face the similar situations once they step out from the protected territory into the bad bad world.

exposure 99.99 percent of the reality show participants come from normal middle to lower class families where they were brought up in a protected way. Most of the Indian families raise their kids giving importance to education and also paying attention to seeing that their kids are well settled in marriage.

The arrival of television channels in India did wonders to many Indian families changing their outlook on life completely especially since the time the reality shows began. The craze to be seen on TV and gain the instant stardom has become the aim and ambition of a lot of younger generation and hence there is no ending to the long queues outside of reality show auditions.

reality A lot of participants think if they are seen on TV, it would be like winning a lottery. But reality is just opposite to that. The real struggle begins only after the show is over. The hard work that one does in clearing the rounds is nothing in compare with the real struggle that one has to do afterwards. It is 100 times easier to win audience heart as they are the common people who rule with their hearts, for us emotions and attitude matters but it’s not the case when it comes to impressing the big shots of Bollywood - they think on different terms. It’s all money for them and what they would get in return if they agree for this favor. It’s all dirty business which a naïve participant falls into only to realize that it’s too late to come out. Ego is another aspect that plays in ruining oneself. A lot of times reality show participants when they taste their initial success, want to stay in the same comforts or more. Any step backwards from the comforts that were tasted is taken negatively and they find themselves compromising on the stuff that they never imagined to do just to get back into the limelight. They think going back to roots is way below they dignity. Why?? Why should one feel ashamed in going back home or starting anew? I think it’s all in mind!

decisions It’s great to be ambitious and its great to have high aspirations but then one must draw a line where and when to stop. Success and failure are only words. Life is much more important then the words defined above. You may find success in serving your family or your neighbors or someone needy. We all came with a purpose into this world and that purpose is not attaining zillions of money but to have deeds that can be talked about after we are gone.

I am not saying one must not try the reality shows or be serious about it, yes you must try but also must have a strong head and mind that will help you avoid from taking stupid actions in case it does not work. Nothing is more important then your life! Period!!

proud Parents need to play a stronger role in upbringing their kids. They should make the kids realize it’s not the end of the world in case it does not work out. If things don’t work now then they will work later so what’s the rush?? Just don’t be ashamed to go back to basics. This is one thing that I really respect in United States of America – Dignity of labor!! You will never find any person feeling ashamed to do any job. A job is a job and no job is bad. If one day we are riding a Mercedes and another day if we have to ride a rickshaw, it shouldn’t make us feel low on life. Whether it’s Mercedes or a Rickshaw it’s only a transport that takes from point A to point B – the great thing is that we are facing life positively and are hale and hearty. Plus our determination and hard work will take us one day to the place we imagined for ourselves so why give up on life?

To sum up, I would love to share my favorite lines that played big inspiration when I was growing up:

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up, though the pace seems slow -
You might succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor’s cup.
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt -
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit -
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.

Remember this is a fan blog, your own blog, anytime you feel low or need a friend; we are here to help and guide or just to listen to you. So be strong and be brave!!

Love always!!

It was really interesting to listen to Jaaved Jaafferi speak about himmat (courage) and he spoke a lot of truth. We will try to talk about couple of topics that he spoke about in the coming days. ;)

Okay Friday night we saw four groups had participated so it was turn for the remaining four groups to perform on Saturday night.  The winner of this groups will walk away with many prizes.

The first group to perform was Jai Hanuman Kalamanch from Raigarh. You know what? I liked their performance as soon as their AV was shown. Music plays a big role in any performance and the song "jai Hanuman" (I hope that is the right title) sounded awesome to the ears. The group got brilliant compliments from the judges and Ravi gave them standing applause. I am guessing this group must have won but I need to wait and watch ;)

The second group to perform was Creation Ballet Troupe from West Bengal. It was a neat performance and they used some props too which added some more charm to their performance. They too perfomed on a semi classical number. The way they spoke so confidently that they will win, I really had high expectations but what was more interesting was their after performance talk.

The next to perform was Blossom Group. This group was larger in number. They danced on semi classical number "joh geet nahi janma woh geet gaayenge". They performed pretty good but it looked more like they were jumping in their steps which was kind of odd. After performance talk was hilarious.

Okay at this point someone came from the audience to dance on pappu cant dance… watch it!! It was hilarious spoof!

The last performance of the night was from Hind Motor Nrityangan Academy from West Bengal. This group danced on simple steps and did a good job but I dont know why I was feeling like something was missing. I wasn’t too crazy about the music either. But don’t go by my review maybe I am still sleep deprived. But I was very excited to see the group leader Deepa who was the one from Moms Championships and great to learn that she is doing fabulous in life. God bless her!

Okay time for results and the winner of the many prizes in Himmat ki Kheemat Week 1 is as guessed "Jai Hanuman Kala Manch". Congratulations Jai Hanuman Group - you all did wonderful job!! Keep it up!! And all the best wishes to the rest of the groups from this fan blog!

Before I say goodnight, I must say the last piece where all the groups danced together was fantastic! 5 stars for that!! ;)

Have a goodnight folks and have a lovely day today to folks on the other side of the globe!!
