Recently one of our members had asked us, why some the song files are called MP3’s and what it means. So here it is:

An MP3 file is: A computer file created with compression technology commonly used to make digital audio computer files relatively small while maintaining high audio quality.

Advantages of a MP3 are:

1) It has huge file storing capacity – MP3 can make an audio file up to 12 times smaller then the original file. It works to an advantage because a normal file for example has a size of more then 40 MB can be saved with a size of just 3 to 5 MB.

2) MP3’s provides good sound quality

3) Creating and Distributing a MP3 file is very easy.
