super_mom1There is a famous quote by Tenneva Jordon that says: “A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.” Being a mother is one of the God’s greatest blessings. Being a mother is also a full time job and a mother feels she is the highest paid in the world with the payment in form of pure love. Mother sacrifices a lot for her family. She goes through immense pain just to see the smile on her loved ones. A mother has the ability to know what’s going on in her child’s life just with the sound or an expression. A mother never leaves her children at home, even when she doesn’t take them along. To sum up - a mother is God send angel on earth!

super-mom After super duper hit of Mummy’s Championship last year, Boogie Woogie is coming back with 2009 Championship for mothers. Mummy’s - it is time now that you come out from your happy little nest to show your talent. You family is well aware of you, but show it to the world that you are a super mom with great talent – Just do it!! Not for the sake of winning but to stand up tall and proud of being a mother. All the Very Best Mothers – get that Video CD’s going to Firdaus AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!

Today we have a contribution from one of our member who explained to us about the importance of ghungroos in classical dance. “Jaishree” who has been a silent reader for sometime who is herself a well trained classical dancer, have contributed her first article. We are very thankful to her and appreciate her taking time in writing and making this blog lot more worthwhile. Thank You Jaishree!! God Bless You! We look forward to hearing from you more.

kathakanklebells We often observe that Indian classical dancers wear ghungroo (foot bells) in their feet just above their ankles. Today let us see why they wear and what the importance of ghungroo is in the Indian classical dance.

Ghungroos are made with brass and they are tiny bells tied together to a cloth which is worn above the ankle on feet while performing classical dance. You will also find ghungroo tied to either leather or other material but many dancers who believe in sanctity, ahimsa do not use those as they perform in temples or at religious functions. Ghungroo in two words can be said that is used as a musical accessory. The sounds that are produced from it are often rhythmic and go with the other musical instruments that are played during the performance.

ghung5 Ghungroos are considered sacred by a majority of classical dancers. They worship them and place them with high importance. It is believed that a dancer never throws her ghungroos after her performance and instead places it at a higher seat called Asan as a mark of respect.

Indian classical dancers strongly believe in mother earth as the Goddess Bhumati. They execute steps in rhythmic patterns touching their feet in full and also with their heel and toes. Ghungroo also adds a different charm to a dance. When ghungroos are not worn, the music instruments play heavy role. But a dancer always prefers to dance with her or his ghungroos as their preference. The rhythmic pattern of a dance makes a powerful ecstatic, divine sound and charm. If a dancer is skilled, he or she can very well produce different sounds out of these ghungroos sounding differently that can vary from loud to mild to slow. A good skilled dancer also has a knack to sound just one ghungroo out of many or sound only few of them or all making a thunderous sound from all ghungroos. A dancer who wears ghungroos often relates to the music that is played on tabla and sounds in sync with the instrument.

ghungroosetsaGhungroos are made of brass and they are available at reasonable cost. They also are durable and can last a long time. Brass bells make a mesmerizing sound although people also wear bells that are made with silver as they sound enchanting too. Ghungroos are also inexpensive to repair if they are broken. A string of ghungroos can anywhere range between 50 bells to more then 200 tiny bells all knotted together.

Some of the Indian Classical dances that use ghungroos are “Bharatnatyam”, “Kuchipudi”, “Odissi” and “Kathak”.

mp3 Recently one of our members had asked us, why some the song files are called MP3’s and what it means. So here it is:

An MP3 file is: A computer file created with compression technology commonly used to make digital audio computer files relatively small while maintaining high audio quality.

Advantages of a MP3 are:

1) It has huge file storing capacity – MP3 can make an audio file up to 12 times smaller then the original file. It works to an advantage because a normal file for example has a size of more then 40 MB can be saved with a size of just 3 to 5 MB.

2) MP3’s provides good sound quality

3) Creating and Distributing a MP3 file is very easy.

Today we bring you MP3’s for the songs that we heard last week. To download, click on the song name below. These MP3’s are hosted on external server and external hosting service.

Enjoy!

First of all - I am extremely sorry for the delay. As they say its better to be late then never and so I continue with the review of Saturday night’s episode of Naache Taare Zameen Par.

Saturday’s episode continued with the remaining 5 contestants to perform with the look alike superstars.

The first contestant to perform was Rashmi Kunder who performed with Arshad Warsi. Rashmi’s intro talk before her performance was very funny as she spoke in Hindi and in "dada" style except that it turned out to be more with accent. It was cute. They both danced on song "Golmaal" and the choreography was good. Both the dancers were great in their dancing style. Highly enjoyable. On Friday nights episode, one couldn’t help but look only at look alikes, Saturday’s episode, we were able to enjoy both dancers equally.

Just before the break they had a Ghajini spoof and the funny thing was that a guy was dressed up in Aamir’s style and called himself Ghajini. It was regarding money lending and was funny. :D

The next to perform was Boogie Woogie’s superstar who came with my favorite superstar "Salman Khan". Now let me tell you something upfront… whether its Salman Khan in real or a look alike Salman, I going to give my best reviews to it. So here I go…. IT WAS THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE EPISODE. 5 STARS!!!  Little Madhav and look alike Salman both were fabulous and danced on song "Do you wanna partner" from movie "Partner". Without being biased, I still would say the choreography was the best and funny and highly enjoyable. Little Madhav’s expressions and his hand movements especially when girls pass were fabulous. Salman Jr and madhav both took their shirts off and danced just in Salman style. ahem ahem! I really hope Salman gets to watch this episode. This performance a MUST MUST MUST WATCH!! The after performance talk was hilarious especially when the judges asked Madhav why he got that hairstyle and what its called so immediately this smart kid turns around to Salman Jr and asks him the meaning. Salman Jr says "Spike ek chote aor handsome ladke ki nishaani hai" and the judges asks him to say so Madhav says "isne sahi kaha". Very smart Madhav! :D Salman Jr talked high and very well about Salman to which I totally agree. He was the same guy who we saw on the game show "Dus ka Dum" where Salman Jr dances and Salman then joins him later. I do remember that episode clearly. Listen to Madhav talk about weight lifting and duplicate show and the rift between him and other kids. He talks so adorable. Catch the reruns, or if its already over then get the videos on net. Must Watch! And I do hope to see the real Salman on Boogie Woogie one day soon. It would definitely make my day to see all my favorites together under the same roof! Make it happen Boogie Woogie ;)

Next one to perform was Vaishnavi Patil who came with Shahid Kapoor Jr. This was another beautiful choreographed number which was highly enjoyable dance wise. Talented Vaishnavi threw in a mind blowing performance and her each and every step was enjoyable. They danced on song "Sade naal karle". Shahid Kapoor was great too. He looked thinner version of Shahid Kapoor. Vaishnavi narrated a sher and I really like these tiny tots narrating sher shayaris as I feel this seed of art that is being sow in them will let the art live longer. I am really glad that they are not rapping instead just like every third kid on the block. India is so rich in its culture and its very important that the kids get involved in it for its survival or else the rich culture becomes a history. Speaking to kids in Indian language and making them learn the rich culture is very crucial in present times. It is really sad that most of the families started to speak only in English with their kids and with this the Indian languages will be lost. But when we see kids like Vaishnavi and Shivalika, they make us feel proud. I can say "that’s what’s up!! Way to go!" Anyway back to the show - Vaishnavi’s dance teacher danced Bharatnatyam on the same song during after performance and the dance was as beautiful as she herself was.

Listen to Ravi, Naved and Javed talk about recession, ATM and beggars - it was hilarious.

Okay now was the time for the little doll - Swasti Nitya who came to dance with Hritik Roshan Jr and both of them danced on song "Jhoomro jhoomro". USP - watch Swasti’s smile, dance steps and the way she was dressed. She looked as cute as a button and totally adorable. It was very well put performance. Hritik Jr was fabulous as always. He is a great talented dancer. Both of them threw in a highly enjoyable dance. The "Boo" dancers in red, white and black added a lot of charm to this number and should equally be credited. The after performance was cute. Listen to little Swasti tell Aamir’s name and the actress name from movie Ghajini. Watch Ravi, Javed and Naved try to make Hritik Jr say his fiance’s name and the way he tries to cover it up. It was hilarious. Swasti looked absolutely beautiful.

The last one to perform was little Phalguni Bhardwaj who came with extremely talented look alike who created raves during look alike special last year on You Tube - Sunny Deol Jr. He was fantastic yet again with his dialogues, actions and dance. This Sunny Deol Jr and Phalguni threw in a mind blowing performance with a medley of songs but dominated by "Naa jaane kaha se aayi hai" and "you and I lets do bale bale" and "main nikla gaddi leke". The dialogues in between, mixing of songs was beautifully done and nowhere it sounded like forced so whoever did the job - beautiful job done, keep it up!! The Boo dancers were fabulous yet again. I would definitely place this performance as second best after the Salman look alike. It definitely was thoroughly entertaining and is MUST MUST WATCH!!! Listen to both of them scream "Yaaaahhhh". Jagdeep Jafri look alike was especially funny talking in middle. And watch Phalguni’s expression when Sunny Jr screams. Go and fish the videos out - it will surely make you chuckle!

It is wonderful to see the look alikes back on Boogie Woogie. Highly entertaining. THANK YOU BOOGIE WOOGIE!! Please bring them back soon!

Okay now comes the painful part - eliminations! I am sure those who haven’t watched the episode will cry when Swasti cries. She broke down when Javed asked her if she wants to go back to Bhagalpur. She first said "no as she likes to stay with Boogie Woogie" but then later she said if she had to go then she will go and meet her friends and started to cry. It was a very heart touching moment. All the look alikes did a little meeting in a circle and requested the judges not to eliminate any contestant tonight as they did before. On this Javed said they have to go with the format and the elimination must happen and so they announced the name - NO ONE GOT ELIMINATED!!! YAH!!!! I can’t tell you enough how happy I was with their decision. Bravo!! This is what makes Boogie Woogie different from other shows - it has no stupid dramas and they do respect a appeal! Keep it up Boogie Woogie! Proud of you guys again!

Have a wonderful day folks! :D

Today’s episode was something that was very much demanded by all. When Boogie Woogie started their look alike special, it was not only a complete entertainer and super duper hit but people started to browse Internet with the look alike tags. The amount of hits and the amount of video clicks that we had when we use to upload videos was amazing. Anyway, today’s episode came with the same promising entertainment of look alike superstars and the show on the whole was just fabulous.

For little stars, they had "pick your superstar" theme. Naache Taare Zameen Par contestants had to pick one chit on which one of the look alike superstar’s name was written and that person would be their dancing partner.

And today we saw all three Javed, Naved and Ravi together and Javed looked fabulous with his clean shave. And you have to listen to Javed mimicking Sanjay Dutt. He was just fabulous. I enjoyed it to the core!

The first participant tonight was Sanoy Dev and his partner was Hritik Roshan jr. They both danced on song Ek pal ka jeena and both were dressed in similar costumes and the performance IS MUST MUST WATCH!! The Boo dancers added a lot of charm too. The dance performance looked thoroughly professional and the steps both took was breath taking. You surely will enjoy the dance. If you don’t get the channel in your area make sure to watch the video at Apni Community or India Forums!!! The after performance talk was fantastic. There was mimicry in audience and there was not a single second that you will find boring. It was superb! The way Sanoy and Hritik Jr showed their muscles was very cute.

The next performer was Boogie Woogie’s little powerful talented poodiya (packet) Shivalika Dhait - the Shaiyara of Boogie Woogie! Bobby Deol Jr was her partner tonight. The pre talk was missing some energies but the dance compensated for everything. It was colorful and again I am going to say "Hip hip hurray to Boo Dancers!!" The stage looked like it was on fire. Little Shivalika was dressed beautifully in red and green. On the whole it was a entertaining performance. Shivalika yet again entertained everyone with her fabulous shayari but somehow I feel her energies were low today. She either was feeling low or not feeling her usual 100 percent. I hope she feels her usual self back soon and will continue to mesmerize everyone.

Today they had Jagdeep look alike and it was very entertaining. All these spoofs in between has their own charm. I do think Boogie Woogie should continue with them always.

The next to come was Nupur Bhatt who got Himmesh Reshammiya as her dancing partner.  The start of the performance was totally hilarious with the boo dancers saying "Topi waale baba ki jai" and singing ek baar aja aaja song. Then Himmesh Jr joined with Nupur and they both together danced on song "mohabbat ki guzarish ho rahi hai" song and both together danced fabulous. I really wish we could replace Himmesh Jr with Himmesh Sr forever ;) Nupur was amazing in her dance. She has improved so much. She and Himmesh Jr both danced with lot of energies. The after performance talk was hilarious but the cutest was when Ravi danced his favourite step. MUST WATCH!

The Haryanvi and Jagdeep jr acts were again hilarious. Must watch - it will surely fill your day with chuckles. A perfect episode for the gray gloomy weekend!

The next to come was Viren Raj Baraik who got Sanjay Dutt Jr as his dancing partner. Sanjay Dutt jr sounds like Sanjay Dutt and looks just like how Sanjay use to look in his younger days. They both danced to song "Har taraf hai shor". It was fantastic but the only thing is that I have observed is, my eyes were more on the look alikes then the participants. It was just fantastic to see these look alikes like the last time. I wouldn’t be exaggerating but they stole the thunder from these kids. But coming back to the dance - both Viren and Sanjay Dutt danced extremely well. They put the life in that tapori dance and it is a MUST MUST WATCH! The after performance talk was again entertaining. The interesting part was when they showed a clip from 10 years ago when Sanjay Dutt jr had first participated in Boogie Woogie. Ravi and Naved looked so much different. Actually Javed hasn’t changed that much ;)

Sanjana Bamrada was the last for the evening to perform and she was accompanied by Sharukh Khan jr. Sanjana talked with so much energy in her pre talk - watch her. This little bundle of joy and Sharukh jr danced on the new song "marjaani marjaani" from Billu Barber - oops I forgot, we are not suppose to call Barber anymore so lets drop the barber ;) Oh by the way, can someone explain me why the word "barber" was found offensive by the community? Anyway the song and the danced both were totally energized and entertaining. We could hear audience cheering and enjoying the performance the most. AGAIN MUST MUST WATCH!! The after performance talk was again entertaining and heart warming. Sharukh jr also narrated a dialogue in Sharukh’s style.

The dance that Jadgeep Jr did was fabulous and entertaining. With this the episode for tonight ended with a promise to bring the rest of the participants tomorrow night.

See you tomorrow folks! Have a GoodNight!

question mark Something has been bothering me for pretty long time and so today I thought I should vent it out. It’s regarding our famous choreographed numbers that are super duper hit in Bollywood. It really doesn’t matter who choreographed them or who has designed them – today all of them will have to take a beating ;)

If you watch almost all the new hits, none of the costumes matches with the lyrics of the songs. Why?

reel As far as I understand any work that needs to be picturized, needs to be well coordinated. I am pretty sure they go through enough meetings and discussions discussing the lyrics, tunes, beats of the songs, what type of background it needs and most importantly the costumes required for that particular song. But in actuality what we see is different. So what goes wrong with the so called famous costume designers and choreographers that they end up with a narration that gives out a meaning totally different from its song? Do these well known choreographers and costume designers take their work for granted? Or are they so confident to sell any crap to the audience. And Why?

Most of the Indian songs have lyrics that talk about a chunri, dupatta and other traditional outfits of India but if you watch the songs carefully you will be movie makingsurprised that the actresses that dance to the song are in minis or jeans or some western outfit and there is no chunri or dupatta to be seen for miles. I also have observed  that the song will talk about different colors in a dupatta but there is no dupatta at all but the actress is dressed up in a deep neck sexy outfit dancing away to glory on words dupatta. Is this funny or what? To me it did not make sense but if it makes sense to someone else, please make me understand as I think the meaning of the song was lost completely. If I was the director of the movie, I would either force the lyricist to use words mini/ jeans in place of chunri and dupatta or dump the choreographer for not understanding the meaning right or throw the costume designer in a local school to learn costume designing and its meaning all over again. Maybe the directors are out of their mind too that they approve such absurd combination.

No wonder the old songs will always remain GOLD!!!

Okay now that I vented out, I do feel better – See you all tomorrow ;)

yes no We are thinking of maintaining a dancing school database on this blog. It is only on its preliminary stages and nothing has been finalized yet as it depends on the response that we receive.

But we would like to request dancing schools in different areas both in India and abroad to please send us brief details of your school for an easy database access. It is observed from time to time that dancing aspirants have been searching for schools or teachers in their areas who can teach them or polish their dancing skills. When they approach this blog, we have no clue of who should they be referred to. And with this we thought it would be a wonderful idea if we can have a free access, no responsibility, no obligation database in form of a page on this blog. A database may help them to pick a school or a teacher in their area or call them for more information. But please remember – THIS BLOG IS ONLY A FAN BLOG and has nothing to do with the show or the channel and more importantly this idea is only to serve as a guiding tool. THIS BLOG WILL NOT BE HOLD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY SCHOOLS OR THEIR TEACHERS. It will be the student or the parent’s duty to find out the authenticity of the schools or their teachers before enrolling in any of their programs if the database page is published.

Schools or teachers may send in their information such as: Name, Address, Contact numbers, Emails, Web address. Also please write down the areas that you specializes in. For example: (Kathak, Hip Hop, Western? etc.)

love me love me not If anyone thinks this is a bad idea, please do comment. Your feedback will always be honored and appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,

Admin

javed-jaffrey-jagdeep-1 Saturday night - Boogie Woogie was blessed by the living legend “Mr. Jagdeep aka Jawaher Ali Jaafferi”. Mr. Jagdeep was the chief guest of honor who came along with Tabassum to judge the Naache Taare Zameen Par - Saturday episode.

Mr. Jaafferi himself is a brilliant dancer and if you watch his movies, you can very well know how and where the talent came from in Javed and Naved. Boogie Woogie is very famous for its light comedy as it keeps the show in its best mood and a lot of times we have witnessed a number of comedies, spoofs, sher shayaris but today when you hear Mr. Jaafferi, you surely will forget everything as he mesmerizes flawlessly and with ease each of his narration. His pronounciation of every word is note worthy - a lot that the present and future generation can learn from. He not only has weightage in his speech but also has the art to take the audience in his grip at any moment of time. Yes a master is a master after all!!

Mr. Jaafferi narrated an funny incident just like the Soorma Bhopali from Sholay. And then both Tabassum ji and Mr. Jaafferi narrated couple of funny shers. Looking at Naved sitting right next to his father makes one realize how much he looks like his father and actually it reminded me of a song - ”mein apne papa ki carbon copy”. :D

tabassum_01 The first participant to start this fabulous episode is none other then the Boogie Woogie’s superstar - Swasti Nitya who was accompanied by her mother, father, grandmother and aunt. Swasti Nitya danced like a puppet on song “oh piya leke doliya” and a number of other songs including Shobha Mudgal’s “Dholna”. She was just fabulous yet again and you just like other times will surely feel like taking her out from television set. You need to pardon me as I wasn’t sure when her family entered or what dance they did as my eyes were just on Swasti. I realized her family was on stage only in the end of the song. When she was asked how she remembers to dance on entire song, she answered back saying “because she tries to remember thats why”. She also sang a bhajan beautifully and one could make out the Mr. Jaafferi was thoroughly enjoying it.

I am a huge fan of Mr. Jaafferi not just for his movies and the legend that he is but also for creating a beautiful example in this world in form of his loving and disciplined family. He is a big inspiration to many in this world and I am extremely fond of him. God bless him!!

Swasti Nitya’s grandmother spoke really well about how little Swasti is and that she has way to go and needs to learn a lot. She spoke words of wisdom too but the one thing again and again takes my mind towards her is her sweet voice. She speaks just like Asha Bhosle ji. I am sure she should be a fabulous singer too. Ravi and Naved sang “Happy Birthday” song for Swasti. We wish this little angel a very Happy Birthday too!

Okay here is the Must Must watch!! Listen to Mr. Jaafferi speak an incident when he and Tabussum acted in a movie about 50 years ago as a child artist. It was heart warming.

3 ravi behl and naved jaafferi-1 Next participant to come was another talented dancer - Vaishnavi Patil and she came with her father, mother, grandmother, uncle, aunt and cousins. They danced on song “Moriya moriya” and Vaishnavi danced just like a professional - absolutely flawless. A must watch performance!! After performance talk was sweet. The surprise factor was Vaishnavi narrating a fabulous sher and the heart warming was when she taook blessings of the judges and gave them a kiss.

Okay now was the time for another super talented dancer - Viren Raj Baraik who came in with his brothers to perform in this family round. They danced on one of my all time favorite song “Jawan hai yaaro” from movie Joh jeeta wohi sikander and the dance, acting, expressions everything were highly enjoyable and takes you into another world along with your entire attention A very well put performance. But the highlight was not over - it was the after performance talk that was absolutely wonderful especially when Viren’s brother sang another favorite song of mine - a Kailash Kher’s number “Saiyaan” and he sang beautifully. He sure has potential and I do hope he participates in one of the singing reality shows soon as he has everything that is needed to be a great singer.

The next participant to perform was another talented dancer - Sanjana Bamrada who came in with her mother, aunt, cousins and they danced on song “ankhiyan”. I might have messed up the song title so correct me please ;) Anyway the performance was good but I don’t know maybe its only me but the mixing or the dialogues with music was a bit untidy.. a clear cutting and proper mixing would have done wonders. But the family was fantastic and all of them together danced well. The after performance talk was fantastic!!

boogie_20woogie Tabassum ji brought a very valid point when she said in all reality shows judges makes the participants nervous when they talk and in Boogie Woogie, both Ravi and Naved makes the participants and their family feel at ease and comfortable. Very well said Tabassum ji!!

The next to perform was Nupur Bhatt but before that Mr. Jaafferi’s fan, a participant’s uncle spoke words of praises for him and also shakes his hand. Mr. Jaafferi thanks in his own modest way and says whatever he is, it is due to the love that people gave him.

Nupur Bhatt is joined by her family - mother, father, grandmother, grandfather and they dance on song “Bhor bhaye panghat pe” and Nupur’s graph has only been climbing high very week and so she danced yet again fabulously. The song was beautifully remixed with hip hop and yet maintained its original grace. Entire family’s participation was beautiful. This week Mr. Bhatt mesmerised his audience again with the song that he sang extremely beautiful. He sure is a great singer! The words and thoughts that were exchanged between the family and the judges were heart warming and makes you say “Mera Bharat Mahaan!!” God bless them all!

Now it was time for the elimination and and and……………….. a judgement that brings a big smile on everyone’s face - yes no one got eliminated this week because it was a family round. Tabassum ji spoke beautiful words on family togetherness. Must watch!!

Families and judges gave credit to Boogie Woogie choreographers of Naache Taare Zameen Par - Sumeet and Vinod. Yes Sumeet and Vinod, this week you guys did a wonderful job though last week for couple of participants it was little bit disappointing but you guys have made it up very well for this week. Both you guys are great and we do look forward to such perfect choreography for all future episodes. God bless All!

WATCH THE VIDEOS ON INDIA FORUMS OR APNI COMMUNITY - MUST WATCH EPISODE!!!

Have a goodnight folks!
