vacation Last week I went on a vacation. I had planned a perfect trip; my airline tickets were booked and as well as the local tours were all set. Everything was perfect and I excitedly was looking forward to this trip. I knew my flight was at 10 PM that night and with that I spent time at a friends place waiting to welcome a newly wed who were arriving to US from India. The time was 4:30 and I said to myself, I better be going as I yet had to finish my packing and also had to run couple of errands on the way. With this in mind, I entered the super market and as I was paying at the counter, by chance my itinerary came in my hand and out of blue I started glancing at it while the lady was billing me. To my shock I realized my flight was not at 10 PM but at 8 PM. The time was then 5:50 PM, I still had to do my packing, drop my car off at the parking place and go to the airport through the lengthy security checking. All this seemed impossible. Somehow I  managed to pack my bags by 6:45 and started to drive. In all the hurry I had forgotten to take directions to go to the new parking place where I was suppose to drop my car for 4 days. Here I was lateon the road hoping and praying to find the place on my own and as usual I was lost. I started praying hard telling God to find me the place and help me reach the airport on time. But no nothing of that sort happened. I reached the parking place by 7:30 and by the time I finished the formalities it was quarter of 8. I knew only miracle could help and so I started to pray much harder to God. I reached my terminal by 8 PM where as the flight was ready to take off. I rushed to the ticket counter to get my boarding pass but as one could expect I missed the flight. I was furious but not at myself but at God and started to question him why he didn’t help me reach the airport on time. Why he didn’t let me know the flight was at 8 and not at 10 PM. I was planning a vacation after a long time so why can’t my vacation turn out to be smooth? Anyway I was told the next flight they could put me in was only at early morning 5 am and I need to be at the airport 2 hours before as I was a standby. Now I didn’t know if I should return back home and come early morning or should stay back at the airport. I finally decided to eat dinner at the airport restaurant. Once I finished dinner, I made a call to the parking company to come and pick me up from airport as I had decided to go back home. I picked my car and asked them to keep my reservation as it is as I will be returning back early morning to catch the flight.

alarm Now I was very tired of all the running around that I was doing. And I feared if I could wake up early morning to reach the airport well in time. I promised myself to put couple of wake up alarms and decided to go to bed. Every night before going to bed, I pray and I prayed that night too but I prayed angrily. I refused to talk to God. Anyway, it was early morning around 3 am that I woke up without an alarm. My alarm never rang which I had set it up for 2 am. I was already an hour late. I started thinking “oh here we go again – thank you God for leaving me high and dry again.”

I got ready as fast as possible and was driving on the road at 100 miles an hour speed. All I could think at please_god_helpthat point was reaching the airport on time this time. After parking my car in the garage, reaching the airport, checking in my baggage, I had to go through the lengthiest security but I reached the counter at the time of boarding. Here to my surprise, I was told since I am only a standby so will have to wait till the end to see if there are any seats left to accommodate the standby’s. Again I am standing in line and this time behind 7 other standby’s. I started to pray but my prayers were a little different this time. They went “God you better get me on this flight if you love me or else I am not talking to you. I can’t believe I planned everything thinking you are with me and you just leave me in such turmoil. How could you do this to me? Help help help me please.” And now here is an announcement that they have two seats left. And I am thinking “great - I am seventh in line and two seats won’t do any good to me. Okay God do whatever you want, I give up!!”

Based on previous nights standby number, three names werecrying-baby announced – one was for a couple and another was good old me. I got excited thinking I am boarding the plane finally. They took me inside and now I was facing the open door of the airplane ready to go in but no seat for me. There was one seat left but the guy was waiting for his wife and in case she doesn’t show up then that seat was suppose to be allotted to me. Here I am saying again “God why did you get me till the cockpit if that seat was not meant for me? Okay never mind do whatever you want – I am not talking to you!!” and then I started praying “God oh God please please do something please forgive me, put me on this plane”.

Here the air hostess says "we wait two more minutes and we will let you take that seat if she doesn’t show up or else you have to go back and wait for another flight". At this point I was blank and was ready for whatever the outcome was EveryKindnessgoing to be. Just 10 seconds to those damn 2 minutes, I hear someone running and yes it was that lady. So here goes my chance of catching the plane. As I see the lady take her seat I looked desperately at the air hostess and murmured “so that’s it? I need to return?” She nodded her head and said come with me and she took me to my seat. I was shocked and surprised of what just happened. She placed me in first class cabin which had one open seat left. They upgraded me from mere economical class to first class. As I sat on my luxurious seat I started to wonder what just happened. Then I slowly murmured yet again to myself “Sorry God sorry to doubt you. I am really sorry, please forgive me.” After the take off, I was served a tasty breakfast and had a fabulous flight. When I reached Las Vegas, I had to take a car rental; there I got a free navigation system. This was not the end, when I reached my hotel where I had booked my room; they told me since I did not reach the previous night they gave away the room charging me for one night. Here I had promised myself not to fight with God again and asked the hotel personnel what I was suppose to do at this point of time. So the answer came, they upgraded me to a luxurious suite for the same price. I couldn’t have planned better then the way my entire plan went. I went to my room and thanked God again. (It’s not that I won’t fight with him soon but for now I am going to behave.)

faithSo the moral of the story is – while we plan a hundred things in our life and a lot of times they don’t go as per our plan, don’t get disheartened. God is planning something better for you. And when he plans, rest of our plans is nothing in compare. Remember, whatever happens always happens for the good. There is always a reason for things to happen. So whether you are waiting for your audition or your results or maybe for some good news to enter your life, deal with patience. It just might be right around the corner. Stay positive! There can be delay in things in life but they are going to be superb. Start your new year with positivity. Plan your resolutions well and start working on them. If they don’t work out the way they are suppose to, then remember, there is another better plan on its way that has been penned down by God. And no plan can be better then "HIS".

Happy New Year 2009 Folks!!

Love to one and ALL!!

As today is Naved’s birthday and so we thought we must give him a gift. After thinking a lot, we came to a conclusion that what better gift would be then making his favorite guys dance to his tunes. But there was one problem. Both Javed and Ravi refused to dance without Naved and so Naved had to join them during his birthday bash.

Boogie Woogie India is proud to bring you the birthday bash celebration from the Jaffreys residence - all exclusively right here at this blog -

Enjoy!! ;)

“True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.” ~ Arthur Ashe

The above quote goes perfect for the person who is being celebrated today – yes, our own Naved Jaffery.

When I was a kid, I heard many stories of heroism, 8and also of perfect angels. As I started to grow, it became my desire to see one in my real life. But then I had started to wonder if they really existed. At this point of time I was told one could find heroes in movies and I started to watch movies in search of real heroes. But then when I came out from the movie theatre I realized it was only a movie, something that was scripted, and something that the actor got paid for acting. I said to myself, that is not the real hero that I am searching for and hence my search continued. My next stop was at an adventure place as I heard there are many daredevils who jump off buildings and other stuff. I thought maybe they are the true heroes. As I went inside and watch them do their stuff, I realized it was only a sport and nothing else. It was a hobby, a craze, an adventure sport and had nothing to do with real heroism. And hence I continued with my search. Then I thought to myself that it would be easy to find a hero if I come across one with heavy muscles. So in midst of my search, I started searching gyms and playgrounds rigorously and came across plenty to dozen and yet again realized they were not true heroes. There was lot that was missing. To me it looked like they were only eating and exercising right to build their own body and had nothing to do with heroism. I said to myself, heroism has to be something else, it can’t be found this easily and so I went to a baba and asked him for the answers. To my surprise he told me, “True heroes aren’t daredevils who jump off buildings. They are not even muscled athletes who play sports for astronomical salaries. But they are people who take time from their lives to help others, never caring whether they reap benefit or glory from their actions. They are people who really care, who live by standards and guide and help the needy. They are the ones who never show their power. Their actions speak a million words in silence”. I then asked the baba, where I can find one as I am eager to see one such hero. He told me, when we come across a true hero, we will feel them right in our heart.”

10 This description was good enough and now my enthusiasm increased more. But as I searched, the results went all in vain. And then I started to continue my studies abroad, my search was halted with life’s diversions. But in few years I came across a very dear friend of mine called “Ajay Babji” in a super market. I and Ajay were volunteers at an organization. Ajay was visiting his family for a short period as his brother was getting married in US. Since we met after a long time, I wanted to find out what Ajay was doing back home. To my surprise he told me, he runs a non profit organization in remote villages in Andhra Pradesh that were for the betterment of the poor and the needy. He was not only helping them get education but also was trying his best to see that their dreams were achieved to at least a decent level. I was thoroughly surprised and felt very proud of him. When I was telling him how proud I was, he interrupted me and said the real credit goes to Naved Jafri and he believes Naved was the reason for the turning point in his life. I did not know who Naved Jafri was and I was eager to know how he helped my friend in making a brilliant decision in his life. And at this point the introduction to the real hero that I was searching for a long time came into effect.

47 I was told that during one of the Boogie Woogie auditions, his sister had not got selected but the brother that he was, he consoled his sister but broke down himself. Looking at this Naved who was then surrounded by dozen of people, saw and walked towards him and consoled him. When Ajay wanted to touch his feet, he stopped him and spoke words of wisdom that taught Ajay a new lesson of life. Watching the Boogie Woogie guys and their humility, Ajay was so inspired that he silently started working for a voluntary organization to spread education in remote villages. He proudly called Naved and the Boogie Woogie guys – Ravi and Javed as his mentors and motivators. He said his organization also was recognized by the local government for the work that they did. Unfortunately Ajay Babji is no longer in this world due to a tragic road accident but what ever short life that he lived, he sure lived it right. I am extremely proud of Ajay and also proud of his silent mentor.

naved 8 That was the time for me to begin my search as the description was clear enough and hence I started searching for Naved the real hero. I did not had any Indian Television channels in my apartment but when I moved to Philadelphia a year later in 2003, I was happy to subscribe to Sony channel to see this great guy who worked magic in my friends life. Naved was the reason I started watching Boogie Woogie and got hooked on. I started following it religiously and as time went on I became a die hard fan and an admirer for many reasons. And I am proud of it!

35 naved To my knowledge, Naved Jafri is a perfect youth icon. He has been bringing a big change in many youth and in society. He is an awesome role model anyone could ever ask for. There are many Ajay’s in India (unsung heroes) who got inspired by him and Ravi and Javed”. They probably are not even aware of their own magic or power that they have on people. They reach out to real India and their reaching touches our heart. Their actions speak louder then words. They sure are modest, simple, humble and great guys. There are more real stories of how and what impact they have on present youth and what respect they get from families all over.

46 naved Having standards on a TV show that say “don’t wear such and such clothes, no revealing, wear proper stockings, no vulgar songs, and no vulgar expressions” is a tough job. In present days, any revealing or any indecent behavior is good enough to fetch brilliant TRP. One small incident, and you will find the news all over Internet and people are waiting to catch that show. But in Sony’s Boogie Woogie, you don’t find any such incidences or behaviors. What you may find is a long 27 point rules and regulations. First time when I glanced at the lengthy multiple pages rules, I thought they are nuts but then when I read each and every point, I realized all those rules were perfect and it will help as a great guiding tool for the participants. It is great to be disciplined. It is this same discipline that will demarcate the good from the bad and will leave a respectful image in future and for years to come.

7 ravi and naved Naved is the master mind behind the concept of Boogie Woogie. He and Ravi are childhood friends. When Ravi approached Naved to start a television show, Naved came up with the idea of Boogie Woogie and they both with the help of Javed got into Sony. I read somewhere that Sony had given them Rs. 12,000/- to start the show. When they started working on their show they never realized that it would create history one day or it could turn out to be super hit. But as time went on, the show became more and more popular and became crave of the each and every town. Yet the humility and humbleness remained where it was before. His attitude never changed. There may be many dance shows today but what Boogie Woogie is, none can ever come close to that level. Boogie Woogie stands class apart in its quality search for talent. Boogie Woogie is the home product of R & N Productions that stands for Ravi and Naved Productions. It is one production house that makes many feel proud to work for. It is one production house that outputs a product that is respectable. Maybe it is possible due to the kind of friendship that both Ravi and Naved shares. They are well aware of each others mood as they are friends for a long time and their friendship only strengthened with time. It is a friendship that will talk about as a good example. When it comes to Naved, it is possible for one to skip talking about anyone else but it is impossible not talk about Ravi. These two names have become synonyms as it is impossible to take one name and leave the other. God bless their friendship!

naved dec 26thNaved is a perfect son, brother and a great friend. He is also an adorable uncle and a fun guy to be with. He has no hang ups and if you approach him, he reciprocates back with respect and care. He makes you feel like you are friends with him for long. He is easy to talk to about anything under the sun and that is why you find many - right from kids to grown ups, joke or talk with him easily on the show or off the sets.

13True heroes are rare to find but we are lucky that we found them right at Boogie Woogie sets. As Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Be the change that you want to see in the world” and that is what we see in Naved. He is the change and who works continuously for the betterment of the society and very humbly. He may not realize what people feel for him as he jokes about himself as just somebody but the fact remains that for many people he might be their world – a real super hero!!

On behalf of BoogieWoogieIndia.Com ……..

IMG_4025 Happy Birthday Naved! May God bless you always and shower you with his choicest blessings. May you live a million healthy years and continue to spread your niceness among everyone always. May your life be filled with plenty of joys, cheers, happiness, good health, love and tons of laughter Amen!

Good people like you deserve to live a long life and hence this song ………

1 boogie woogie 2 Today’s episode started just the way I wanted it to be from a very long time. I always wanted Ravi and Naved to dance beginning of the every episode and it was my long time dream which was finally fulfilled today. They both danced to the tune of "Boogie Woogie ke leke gaadi". It was a total treat to watch. Saroj joined them later and they started the show. Keep it up Boogie Woogie, each episode is better then the previous one - this is the way to go!! Awesome!

4 ravi and naved 7 naved 8 naved
10 naved 14 ravi saroj and naved 11 ravi

Before they started the show, they had the spoof. The same gentleman who comes with his family and his son "Nita". I have to tell you, I find this really hilarious. I thoroughly enjoyed.

22 rimpy das 26 rimpy das Okay so the first participant to perform tonight was Rimpy Das who came from Gawahati, Assam and who is 9 year old. She danced on Shobha Mudgal’s "Dholna". She was dressed beautifully with the demand of her song and performed very energetically. Watch her perform and you will wonder what these kids eat that they have so much of energies. They sure can beat any grown up dancer. She received good comments from the judges and also brought a gift from Assam "Gamucha" for the judges. An enjoyable performance and must watch!

81 simarpreet 36 simarpreet The next one to perform was Simarpreet who came from Ludhiana and he is 10 year old. He danced beautifully on a Punjabi number and did an energetic bhangra. He got excellent comments from judges and reciprocated the comments with good mannerisms. His family had come to support him and everyone danced on the stage when they were requested including his dada ji. It was pleasant to watch the entire family being so sportive and come on stage. Simarpreet also acted like an old lady and did a marvelous job.

44 simarpreet family 46 simarpreet family 47 simarpreet

56 simran shiekh 51 simran sheikh Now the next participant to take the show forward was Simran Sheikh who is 8 years old and who came in from Mumbai, Maharashtra. She danced on "Aag lage aaj kal ke fashion nu" and did a marvelous job. Her energies and steps were flawless and she received great comments from judges. Naved asked her if she has bones as her dance and steps that she took were great. She reminded me of Farhina. Watch her dance, you will be full of praise for this little wonder.

60 vaidehi sahatrabhojni 63 vaidehi sahatrabhojni The next performer was Vaidehi Sahatrabhojni who came from Nagpur, Maharashtra and who is 9 years old. She danced on the song "Mera naam hai chameli". She was beautifully dressed that complimented her dance very well. Saroj Khan said this was her favorite song that talked about yesteryears actress Kumkum who had danced to this number gracefully. She also said Kumkum was the one who initiated the latka jhatka dance step in Hindi film industry. She brought a painting that her grandfather painted by his hands as a gift for the judges.

72 biren raj barik 76 biren raj barik Now it was turn for the last performer of the evening. Biren Raj Barik who came from Ranchi, Jharkhand performed the last number. He is only 9 years old and danced to the tunes of "Maria Maria" from movie Partner. He danced superbly and his dance stunts is something worth watching. His energies were fantastic. All the steps that he put looked easily delivered. He received great comments from the judges. Although I did not like one thing in him. His way of talking with the judges. I know judges joke all the time and that puts one at ease to converse anything they want but I feel kids should maintain their manners especially when they are talking with elders.

I am so glad they had a spoof at this time, it made the atmosphere light and got us ready for the elimination results. Today the participants that got selected for the next round are:

1.    Kumkum Gujar
2.    Nupur Bhatt
3.    Shivalika Dhaji
4.    Shivam Jaiswal
5.    Rimpy Das
6.    Viren Raj Barik
7.    Simarpreet
8.    Simran Sheikh

Next week will be last elimination week and after that the semi finals will begin for all the selected performers. With due courtesy to Razaak of Apni community, watch their videos below by clicking Here

Today’s show started with Naved dancing. It was fun and must watch ;) I like the new spoofs they have introduced in Boogie Woogie. Its more entertaining then before.

3 naved dec 26th 4 naved dec 26th 5 naved dec 26th

Saroj Khan came in dressed as Santa and was looking adorable.

17 shivalika 18 shivalika The first participant to start the show today was Shivalika Avinash Dhaji who came from Gadchirolli, Maharashtra and who is 9 years old. She danced on "Kaahe Ched ched mohe" from Devdas. She danced very well but please how many times will the same song be repeated?? We have seen Kaahe Ched ched mohe and Dholna many times and especially from past 3 weeks these two songs are like must numbers of the show. So kids a big request - prepare on other numbers too. Please choose different songs before we get bored of watching and listening to same numbers again and again.

Back to tonight’s episode, the best I found was Shivalika say a joke. She said a fresh joke and was fantastic. When Saroj ji advised her to correct her mistakes, she even said a really nice sher that goes something like this…  "itna na karo pyar ke bigad jaye hum, thoda daanta bhi karo ke sudhar jaayen hum" :D

28 sahil pandit 30 sahil pandit The next one to come was Sahil Pandit who is only 6 years old and is from Mumbai, Maharashtra. He danced on song "Sajda, pyar ka sajda". He danced energetically and was dressed up very well. When Saroj ji asked him a question "why his hands were open during his dance, during all his movements" he answered back saying "because the movements were suppose to be like that why". I thought his answer was adorable.

33 indian shakil on boogie woogie 34 indian shakil on boogie woogie 35 indian shakil on boogie woogie

At this point of time, there was a spoof. The person who performed this spoof had come earlier and I wish I knew his name but I think he is too good. I think he is Indian Shakil but with better sense of humor. He definitely should go in Comedy Circus, he can do wonders or else they should get him on regular basis on Boogie Woogie. I am sure there are plenty of people like me who thoroughly enjoyed his comedy today. Watch him dance during performances, its hilarious and total entertainment.

41 39 Okay so now the next one to take the show forward was Kumkum Gujar who is 6 years old and came from Nagpur, Maharashtra. She danced beautifully on song "Koi shahri babu". Aah what a relief to see a number other then dholna and kaahe ched ched.. good Kumkum, keep it up! She got really good comments from judges. She called her dance teacher "Manish" on stage. Overall a very nice performance and a treat for the eyes to watch.

49 shivam ajay jaiswal 54 shivam jaiswal Next contestant to perform was Shivam Ajay Jaiswal who is 9 year old and came from Mumbai, Maharashtra. He danced energetically on "Toh phir aao" song and did some great stunts. Watch him as he awes you with his performance. His father too did couple of stunts and did it very well. He dedicated the song to his best friend who no longer studies with him. Watch it, you will love the performance.

68 70 The next performer of the evening was Gauri Shukla who is 9 years old and came from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. She danced a semi classical number on "radha naachegi". I am not sure which movie this song is from or even if the name of the song is right. If its not and any of you know, please correct me. But coming back to her performance, its a must watch. She got good comments from the judges. Watch her perform few steps of Taekwondo.

79 nupur bhatt 88 nupur bhatt The last performer of the evening was Nupur Bhatt who is 9 years old and came from Mumbai, Maharashtra. She danced on remixes "Aye paapi" and a Haal e Dil number. Reminded me of Farhina Parvez - not that she danced like Farhina but Farhina had danced on these numbers so brilliantly that somehow these numbers have become her trade mark. But coming back to Nupur, she danced really well and received good comments from the judges. Her dad danced too on stage after the performance and he even sang a song beautifully but what is must must watch is her grandmother dancing. She danced very gracefully. I am sure when you see her dance, you will not take your eyes off from her. :D

With this today’s episode ended and tomorrow we should see 5 more contestants performing before the eliminations begin.
