Videos of Boogie Woogie Festivals of India - Group Dance Oct 17th 2008

This Week we saw a new topic where the groups from different regions participated to compete in Group Dance under “Festivals of India” topic.

18 Jugal Hansraj along with his movie characters “Laila” and “Romeo” from movie “Roadside Romeo” were the guests. We shall talk about them little later now back to the group dance competitions.

23 The first group to participate was “Natraj Dance Academy” who hails from Baroda. They did Hudo dance which is a folk dance from region Saurashtra, Gujrat. They choose a folk regional song “Sonali Sakade” and gave a energictic and rocking performance. The highlight, I felt for this group was when they were asked about their performance and what it signifies, they put it beautifully and explained very well. This is how participants need to be prepared. Kudus to them!

28 The next group to participate was “Dev and the City Dance Group” from Pune. They got Christmas as their theme. They started to depict how christmas is celebrated and will Santa Claus coming in to distribute gifts and later the couples danced on a song “Pyar ki ek Kahani Suno”. The judges felt the performance was not up to the mark - watch the video you will know why.

35 “The Show Stoppers” from Manipal was the next in line to perform and they choose “Bhangra” for their Baisakhi theme and threw a fabulous energetic performance. From no angle it looked this group belonged to Manipal and not Punjab. A dance very well done. They danced on Bhangra remix.

43 “Praveen and Group” from Mumbai got “Eid” as their theme and they all together gave yet another rocking performance. They danced on a song which started with Sawariya song “Yooh Shabnami” and “Mubarak Eid Mubarak” a Salman number from movie “Tumko na bhool paayenge”. The judges felt there was little hip hop in it and shouldn’t have been there in a Eid song but I loved it!! And I have my own reasons to love this performance ;)

46 The last group to perform on Friday night episode was “Bappa Excel Dance Group” from Mumbai. They got Holi as their theme and danced on a number “Holi hai holi rango ki chale goli”. A energetic and lively performance. Overall a fantastic performance and the answers given by the group were enjoyable.
